La Organización Universitaria Interamericana (OUI), a través de su Instituto de Gestión
y Liderazgo Universitario (IGLU) con el Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo,
(INTEC), y en acuerdo con Cockell McArthur-Blair Consulting lo invita a participar en
el Seminario IGLU Alta Dirección 2015-5 sobre la Indagación Apreciativa en la
Educación Superior: Facilitando Transformaciones Generadoras, los días 29 y 30 de
octubre de 2015 en Santo Domingo, Rep. Dominicana.
The Inter-American Organization ( OUI ) , through its Institute for University
Management and Leadership ( IGLU ) with the Technological Institute of Santo
Domingo ( INTEC ), and with Cockell McArthur -Blair Consulting invites you to
participate in the IGLU Seminar 2015-5 about Appreciative Inquiry in Higher
Education: Facilitating Generative Transformations, 29 and October 30, 2015 in
Santo Domingo , Dominican Republic.
Los Seminarios IGLU Alta Dirección se han diseñado como espacios en los que
además de fortalecer lazos interinstitucionales, los participantes puedan explorar
aspectos imprescindibles para fortalecer su gestión como líderes educativos. Se
espera que participen en este evento: rectores, vicerrectores, directores de unidades,
coordinadores académicos y otros miembros de los equipos de dirección y gestión en
las instituciones de educación superior.
IGLU Senior Management Seminars are designed as spaces in which in addition to
strengthening institutional networking, participants can explore essential aspects to
strengthen their work as educational leaders. We invite the participation of: presidents,
vice presidents, unit directors, academic coordinators and other members of
management teams in institutions of higher education.

Indagación Apreciativa en la Educación Superior: Facilitando Transformaciones
Generadoras es un Seminario introductorio de dos días a la Indagación Apreciativa
(IA) y está diseñado para desarrollar habilidades básicas para facilitar y usar la IA en
áreas como desarrollo curricular, desarrollo de equipos, cambio organizacional y
planeamiento.
Appreciative Inquiry in Higher Education: Facilitating Generative Transformations is
a two-day introduction to Appreciative Inquiry (AI) and is designed to develop
foundational skills in facilitating and using AI in areas such as curriculum development,
team development, organizational change, and planning.
¿Qué es la Indagación Apreciativa? IA es un enfoque energizante para desatar el
cambio organizacional positivo y el desarrollo del grupo / comunidad. IA se centra
en lo que está funcionando bien (apreciativa ) mediante la participación de la gente
haciendo preguntas y contando historias ( indagación ) . Este cambio de enfoque
hacia lo positivo genera vida dentro de la organización / grupo / comunidad / lo que
crea las condiciones para avanzar hacia y alcanzar metas.
What is Appreciative Inquiry? AI is an energizing approach for sparking positive
organizational change and group/community development. AI focuses on what is
working well (appreciative) by engaging people in asking questions and telling stories
(inquiry). This shift in focus to the positive generates life within the
organization/group/community/self which creates the conditions to move toward and
achieve goals.

AI es una forma de ser y de ver . Es a la vez una visión del mundo y un proceso para
facilitar un cambio positivo en los sistemas humanos. Su premisa es simple: todo
sistema humano tiene algo que funciona correctamente - las cosas que le dan vida,
cuando es vital, eficaz y exitoso. IA comienza por identificar este núcleo positivo y por
conectarse al mismo en formas que aumentan la energía, agudizan la visión, e
inspiran la acción para el cambio.
Desde la década de 1980, IA se ha utilizado para lograr un cambio colaborativo y
fortalecer los cambios fundamentados en las fortalezas de comunidades y
organizaciones de todo el mundo.
AI is a way of being and seeing. It is both a worldview and a process for facilitating
positive change in human systems. Its assumption is simple: every human system has
something that works right – things that give it life when it is vital, effective and
successful. AI begins by identifying this positive core and connecting to it in ways that
heighten energy, sharpen vision, and inspire action for change.
Since the 1980s, AI has been used to bring about collaborative and strengths-based
change in communities and organizations worldwide.

Trabajar con Joan McArthur -Blair co- autor de la Indagación Apreciativa en la
Educación Superior: Una fuerza transformadora, los participantes:
• Explorarán teoría básica, conceptos, modelos y usos de la investigación
apreciativa
• Participarán en una indagación apreciativa utilizando el modelo 5 D (Definir,
Descubrir, Dream (Soñar), Diseñar y Deliver (Entregar)
• Explorarán formas de aplicar la IA en sus organizaciones propias / grupos, en el
desarrollo curricular innovador y otros aspectos de su trabajo diario.

Working with Joan McArthur-Blair co-author of Appreciative Inquiry in Higher
Education: A Transformative Force, participants will:
• Explore basic theory, concepts, models and uses of Appreciative Inquiry
• Engage in an appreciative inquiry using the 5 D model (Define, Discover, Dream,
Design and Deliver)
• Explore ways to apply AI in their own organizations/groups, in innovative
curriculum development and other aspects of their daily work.

consultoría con más de 25 años en la educación superior, de
profesora a Rectora. Es autora de numerosos artículos sobre
investigación apreciativa; co-autora del libro, Indagación Apreciativa
en la Educación Superior y actualmente está trabajando como
co-autora en Resiliencia Laboral.

Profesor de INTEC y Director Ejecutivo del IGLU
es un apasionado por la IA, y la ha comenzado a introducir en las
lecturas del Curso IGLU. Considera que IA es un instrumento ideal
para los procesos transformadores que requieren las instituciones de
educación superior de América Latina. Aunque apenas se inicia en IA
afirma que fue un “apreciativo” desde hace mucho. En su discurso de
toma de posesión como Rector del INTEC en 2005 destacó los
aspectos positivos del INTEC.

Professor of INTEC and Executive Director of IGLU
is passionate about AI, and has begun introducing AI in the IGLU
Course readings. He considers AI ideal for the transformations
processes required by institutions of higher education in Latin
America. A beginner with AI, he claims as being "appreciative" long
ago. In his inauguration address as Rector of INTEC in 2005 he
emphasized the positive aspects of INTEC.
