Escuela Politécnica Nacional Departamento de Geofísica INFORME N0. 6 INSTITUTO GEOFÍSICO – ESCUELA POLITÉCNICA NACIONAL RESUMEN SEMANAL: VOLCÁN COTOPAXI SEMANA DEL 2 AL 8 DE FEBRERO DEL 2004 ESTADO DEL VOLCÁN No han ocurrido variaciones de importancia en el volcán. Los sismos de largo período registrados por el momento no indican cambios notables en la actividad. OBSERVACIONES Las fumarolas son visibles desde algunos sectores y sus alturas no superan los 300 m. Cabe resaltar la presencia de sismos de largo período los cuales se caracterizan por tener duraciones de hasta 2 min. Eventos similares se han registrado en ocasiones anteriores.
