Peter Kamerman, MD, PhD CV resumido en español Peter Kamerman es Profesor Asociado de la Escuela de Fisiología, y Jefe del Laboratorio de Dolor del Grupo de Investigación de la Función Cerebral de la Universidad de Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Obtuvo en la misma institución su PhD en 2002. Su campo de investigación es el dolor relacionado al HIV con especial énfasis en la epidemiología, genética y fisiopatología del VIH asociado a neuropatía sensorial. Ha publicado en importantes revistas internacionales y ha dado múltiples conferencias a nivel mundial. Actualmente, es el secretario del grupo de interés en dolor neuropático de IASP (NeuPsig) y presidente electo de la Asociación del Dolor de Sudáfrica. Biography Peter Kamerman is an associate professor in the School of Physiology, and head of the Pain Laboratory of the Brain Function Research Group at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He was awarded his PhD in 2002 by the same institution. His field of research is HIV-related pain with a primary focus on the epidemiology, genetics and pathophysiology of HIV-associated sensory neuropathy. He has published widely in international peer-reviewed journals, and presented numerous invited talks and workshops at local and international conferences. He currently is secretary of the Neuropathic Pain Special Interest Group (NeuPSIG) of the International association for the Study of Pain (IASP), and president-elect of the Pain Society of South Africa (PainSA).
