PRIORITY IN THE GROWTH OF ACTIONS OVER QUALITY CONTROLS
Introduction
The Boeing Company is an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and
sells aircraft, helicopters, missiles, and satellites and provides technical advice and service.
In this essay we will focus on the change of objective that the company had after the union of
Boeing with McDonnell Douglas, since that moment the company focused on generating money
and being one of the companies with the highest level in the market of Wall Street, which affected
in the production system and because of that bad aircraft manufacturing arose.
This poor production caused the first accident in 2018, the biggest problem was that the company
continued with these ideals and kept money as its first objective and didn’t correctly solve the
problems, which caused a second accident in 2019, adding 346 deaths in these events.
Body
The Boeing company since its creation had the objective of offering the greatest safety to users, so
they had the best engineering, which generated a great reputation thanks to the quality of their
products. In the same way, within the company, the workers had the freedom to express if
someone found a problem and this was discussed among the team to find a solution.
As we mentioned before, the whole problem began when a new person entered, with a different
thought than the one they had and from which all the decisions came, which affected the
company too much specifically in three points:
One of the changes that most affected the staff was the feedback that they had before, where if
they found any faults they told directly with the executives to solve them as quickly as possible,
after the merger if any worker reported faults they were fired or they lowered their salary , this
was reflected in the quality inspections of the aircraft and all this generated a culture of
concealment within the company.
This process system was the one that was most affected after the merger of McDonnell Douglas,
going from caring about the quality of the aircraft and the safety of the passengers to focusing
clearly on the company's finances, where the business objectives had changed. All the changes
made by the new leadership led to a poor final product with flaws, without adequate quality
control, as a consequence there were these 2 major accidents, where the lack of training for the
pilots is evident when selling a product. It must be of the utmost importance that it has all the
quality controls, where in this case it didnt occur.
Conclusion
If we compare this situation with our daily live, it’s a problem that we saw in different areas, a lot
of companies do this mistake, when the company is in the mayor level, generating a big among of
money the bosses of these companies start to think in money and change the process that help
the company to be in this place. It’s better if we continue doing the things in the best way that we
can, if you feel like you are in a safe zone in your life, think in some thinks that you can do to be
better and be the best version of yourself.
