The PlayStation was born after the breakdown of Sony's agreement with Nintendo. The agreement consisted of Sony developing the CD-ROM for Nintendo's new SNES PlayStation (Snes CD Rom), which was intended to provide the new Nintendo console with the greatest multimedia capabilities. But Nintendo seeing the little success of the Sega CD and other companies, decided not to continue with the SNES PlayStation project.
