NEEDED: Parent Volunteers for Field Day
Northgate Elementary will be hosting Field Day on Wednesday, June 10th. In order to make this Field Day the best yet,
we need your help! Although the event will take place in the
afternoon, we are in need of parent volunteers throughout
the day to help set-up and prep activities, assist students
with the games, and clean up.

SE NECESITAN: Padres Voluntarios para el Día de Campamento en la Escuela
Northgate Primaria será el anfitrión de día de campamento
el miércoles 10 de junio. Con el fin de hacer de este Día de
Campamento el mejor hasta ahora, necesitamos su ayuda!
Aunque el evento se llevará a cabo en la tarde, estamos en
la necesidad de padres voluntarios durante todo el día para
ayudar a las actividades de puesta en marcha y de preparación, ayudar a los estudiantes con los juegos, y limpiar.

NORTHGATE ELEMENTARY INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC CONCERT
On Wednesday, April 29th, our instrumental music students gave the school a concert. All their hard work and
practice showed as they played more than a dozen songs for the audience. A special thanks to our Instrumental Music Director Randall Davidson for his dedication to our students!
May 18th is the 50th Anniversary of Head Start!!
Head Start is a federally funded child development program for low-income children and their families. The
Head Start programs in Seattle Public Schools serve three-year and four-year-old children, offering half-day programs at various schools in the district.
The overall goal of Head Start is to improve the social competence and school readiness through commitments
to a supportive learning environment for children and families. Head Start respects the importance of all aspects of a child’s development, including social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth. Head Start recognizes that children develop in the context of their family, respecting culture and language. We believe that fostering relationships with the community is important for families and children so that families are respected and their needs met.
Project Head Start was originally launched on May 18, 1965 by President Lyndon B.
Johnson and has evolved to what it is today over five administrations. The Head Start
Program came to Northgate Elementary in the 2003-2004 school year. Please stop by
our hallway display to learn more about the history of this wonderful program.
Join The Family ESL Class!
Want to improve your English? Join the Family ESL class to practice your English skills with other Northgate
parents. Learn English reading, writing, and grammar skills from a North Seattle College instructor. Classes
started April 7th and continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-5pm in the Northgate Elementary Library.

NORTHGATE PRIMARIA INSTRUMENTAL MÚSICA CONCIERTO
El miércoles, 29 de abril nuestros estudiantes de música instrumental dieron un concierto en la escuela. Todo
su esfuerzo y la práctica se demostró en la docena de canciones que tocaron para el público. Un agradecimiento especial a nuestro Director de Música Instrumental Randall Davidson por su dedicación a nuestros
estudiantes!
18 de mayo es el 50 aniversario de Head Start !!
Head Start es un programa de desarrollo infantil financiado por el gobierno federal para los niños de
bajos ingresos y sus familias. Los programas de Head Start en Escuelas Públicas de Seattle ofrecen servicio a los niños de tres años y cuatro años de edad, Ofrecen programas de medio día en varias escuelas en el distrito.
El objetivo general de Head Start es mejorar la competencia social y preparación para la escuela a
través de compromisos a un ambiente de aprendizaje para los niños y las familias. Head Start respeta
la importancia de todos los aspectos del desarrollo del niño, incluyendo social, emocional, cognitivo y
crecimiento físico. Head Start reconoce que los niños se desarrollan en el contexto de su familia, respetando la cultura y el lenguaje. Creemos que el fomento
de las relaciones con la comunidad es importante para las familias y los niños
para que se respeten las familias y sus necesidades sean satisfechas.
Proyecto Head Start fue lanzado originalmente el 18 de mayo de 1965 por el
