En la planificación se detallan los proyectos de nuevas infraestructuras eléctricas que se
deben acometer en todo el territorio nacional, bajo los principios de transparencia y de
mínimo coste para el conjunto del sistema eléctrico.
Estas infraestructuras son imprescindibles tanto para reforzar la calidad y
seguridad del suministro como para proporcionar una mayor eficiencia y
competitividad a los mercados eléctricos.

La planificación de la red de transporte es aprobada por el Gobierno tras ser sometida
al Congreso de los Diputados y abarca periodos de seis años.
Esta planificación es vinculante para Red Eléctrica de España que, en su condición de
transportista y operador del sistema, tiene la responsabilidad de desarrollar una red
de transporte de energía segura, eficiente y sostenible.
