MARIO PAREDES HAS RETURNED TO CONSEJO’S FAMILY
MARIO PAREDES REGRESA A LA FAMILIA CONSEJO
During the month of September Mario Paredes, MA was appointed Executive
Director of Consejo Counseling and Referral Service. Mario was previously with
Consejo, he began as a volunteer in the 80’s until becoming Executive Director
between the years 2001-2010. During this period the agency had a significant
growth in services. Welcome back Mario!
En el mes de Septiembre Mario Paredes, MA fue nombrado Director Ejecutivo de
Consejo Counseling and Referral Service. Mario ya habia estado en Consejo
previamente; él comenzó colaborando como voluntario durante los años 80, hasta
convertirse en Director Ejecutivo de 2001 a 2010, periodo en que la agencia tuvo un
considerable crecimiento en sus servicios. ¡Bienvenido Mario!

Inspiring for Change
- Inspirando el Cambio
Vilma Ordoñez from Consejo’s Chemical Dependency program was selected to participate in the
19th Annual King County Mental Health and Substance Abuse Legislative Forum. During this
event she shared her storythat do to the support she received from Consejo, she was able to free
herself from the addiction that was destroying her life. “Vilma’s story was incredibly inspiring,
brought tears to my eyes and put me back in touch with why I do what I do! I appreciate the
fabulous work Consejo is doing in our community and I am proud to represent your organization
at King County” said Deborah Stake, Project Program Manager II King County - MHCADS.
Vilma Ordoñez, del programa Abuso de Substancias de Consejo, fue seleccionada para
participar en el 19 Foro Anual Legislativo de Salud Mental y Abuso de Substancias del
Condado de King. Allí compartió su historia sobre cómo con el apoyo que recibió en Consejo,
logró liberarse de la adicción que estaba destruyendo su vida. “La historia de Vilma fue
increíblemente inspiradora, me conmovió hasta las lagrimas y me inspiró a continuar
haciendo lo que hago. Aprecio mucho el fabuloso trabajo que Consejo está realizando en
nuestra comunidad y me siento orgullosa de representar esta organización en el Condado
de King” dijo Deborah Stake, Supervisora de Salud Mental y Abuso de Substancias del
Condado de King.
STUDENTS VOLUNTEERS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAM RECEIVED AWARD
Estudiantes Voluntarias de Programa de Violencia Doméstica Reciben Reconocimiento
“Aprendizaje” a group of students from Thomas Jefferson High School that volunteers at Villa Esperanza, one of Consejo’s domestic violence programs, received the Take Action Award 2015 from King County Coalition Against Domestic Violence, now Coalition Ending Gender-Based Violence. Sandra Ojeaburu
and Alexa Dannels have taken extraordinary leadership in keeping the program
running over the last two years; their dedication and hard work serve as an inspiration to their peers. CONGRATULATIONS!
“Aprendizaje”, un grupo de estudiantes de la preparatoria Thomas Jefferson
que realiza trabajo voluntario en Villa Esperanza, uno de los programas de
violencia doméstica de Consejo, recibió el Premio Take Action Award 2015
de la Coalición Contra la Violencia Doméstica del Condado de King ahora
