Es ya uno de los mejores torneos de tenis del mundo, prestigio que se ha ganado a pulso a base de acoger a las mejores raquetas del panorama tenístico. Esta séptima edición no será una excepción: Entre el 11 y el 19 de octubre, la élite del
tenis mundial se dará cita en el Telefónica Arena de Madrid. Los aficionados sueñan ya con una final Federer- Nadal… ganada, a ser posible, por el español.

Este será el último año que el torneo tenga lugar en el Telefónica Arena. A partir del año próximo cambia la fecha y la ubicación. El masters Series Madrid 2009 se desarrollará en el mes de mayo y con él se inaugurará la espectacular Caja Mágica de
Dominique Perrault. Se trata de uno de los edificios más singulares de la arquitectura deportiva mundial y uno de los emblemas
de la candidatura olímpica Madrid 2016. Estará construido a base de acero, madera y vidrio y en su diseño se conjugan las altas
tecnologías y el respeto al medio ambiente. Masters Series Madrid 2009 será el único torneo combinado (masculino-femenino)
de Europa, se jugará sobre tierra batida y tendrá una dotación en premios de 6,5 millones de euros.
It is now recognised as one of the finest tennis tournaments in the world, an accolade it has achieved based on having played host to some of the top competitors in the tennis world.This seventh event will be no exception: From the 11th to the 19th of October the

Telefónica Arena in Madrid. Fans are hoping for a FedererNadal final… won, if possible, by the Spaniard.
This will be the last year that the tournament will be held at
the Telefónica Arena. From next year the dates and location
will both change.The Masters Series Madrid 2009 will take
place in May and will mark the opening of Dominique
Perrault's spectacular Caja Mágica. It is one of the most outstanding sporting facilities in the world and one of the emblems
of the Madrid 2016 Olympic constructed primarily using
steel, wood and glass and its design features a complex juxtaposition between high-end technology and respect for the environment. Masters Series Madrid 2009 will be the only combined tournament (men-women) in Europe, and will be placed
on clay and offer prizes of up to 6.5 million euros.
Poco a poco sus vidas van volviendo a la normalidad, si es que alguna vez se puede
recuperar la normalidad, después de siete años de secuestro, viviendo en condiciones precarias en medio de la selva y sin saber si alguna vez iban a volver a ver su casa y a los suyos.
Todo esto quedó atrás, pero Luis Eladio Pérez, compañero de secuestro de Ingrid Betancourt,
ha querido que el mundo conozca de primera mano cómo fue su calvario y lo ha plasmado en
un libro InfiernoVerde, con la colaboración de Darío Arizmendi, prestigioso periodista de Radio
Caracol de Colombia.
El pasado 24 de septiembre el libro se presentó en Madrid en la Casa de América. Con
motivo de esta presentación, Ingrid y Luis Eladio pasaron unos días en Madrid y nos honraron con su presencia en Botín. Sencillos y simpáticos, nos
emocionaron con una revelación: A veces, cuando las cosas se ponían feas, cosa que ocurría con frecuencia, trataban de animarse el uno al otro con
deseos, recuerdos y planes… y entre uno de estos planes estaba el de volver a Casa Botín a cenar cuando su cautiverio terminase.

En Infierno Verde Luis Eladio Pérez cuenta el tiempo que pasó encadenado, enfermo, hambriento y desalentado… llegando a plantearse el suicidio. Las
largas marchas, la dureza de la selva, el maltrato, las humillaciones, etc.Y como pudo salir adelante, entre otras cosas, gracias al apoyo de Ingrid, que
con su arrolladora personalidad fue todo un ejemplo de entereza y fuerza para mantener la dignidad y la templanza en una situación tan extrema.

All this is in the past now, but Luis Eladio Pérez, a fellow prisoner of Ingrid Betancourt, wanted to let the world know first hand of his torment, which he recounted in
his book "Infierno Verde", with the collaboration of Darío Arizmendi, prestigious journalist for Radio Caracol de Colombia.
On the 24th of September last the book was presented at the Casa de América in Madrid.To mark the presentation, Ingrid and Luis Eladio spent a few days in Madrid and
honoured us with a visit to Botín. Open and friendly, we were moved by their revelation: Sometimes when things were bad, something which was quite frequent, they tried
to encourage each other discussing their hopes, memories and plans … and one of these plans was to return to Casa Botín for dinner when their time in captivity was over.
In "Infierno Verde" Luis Eladio Pérez speaks about the time he spent in chains, sick, hungry and discouraged …. even coming to consider suicide.The long hikes, the
harshness of the jungle, the mistreatment, the humiliation etc.And how he came to overcome these difficulties, thanks to, amongst other things, Ingrid's support, who with
her sparkling personality, was an example of integrity and strength, maintaining dignity and calm in such a difficult situation.

Entre tanto ocre otoñal, destaca el rojo vivo de los pimientos. Pertenece a la familia de las solanáceas al igual
que la berenjena y el tomate. Esta hortaliza es originaria de México, Bolivia y Perú. Llegó a la península en 1493
tras el primer viaje de Colón.Y a partir del siglo XVI comenzó su cultivo en Europa.
El pimiento tiene un bajo aporte calórico, mucha agua y fibra, y muy poco contenido graso, por lo que puede
consumirse en las dietas de adelgazamiento. Muy rico en vitamina E es un gran antioxidante natural.
Hay muchas clases de pimiento, pero nos vamos a centrar en el pimiento rojo, llamado pimiento morrón. A la
hora de comprarlos debemos tener en cuenta que sean carnosos, duros y con la piel brillante y sin manchas.
Aguanta bien en la nevera más de diez días.
Puede consumirse crudo, asado o como ingrediente de guisos y estofados. Una vez cocinados se pueden congelar sin ningún problema.
En Botín nos decantamos por asarlos y servirlos acompañados de anchoas del Cantábrico… un auténtico manjar
que deben probar…
The bright red pepper stands out amongst all autumn culinary fare. It belongs to the solanacea family together with the aubergine and tomato.The vegetable originated in Mexico, Bolivia and Peru. It came to peninsula in 1493 following Columbus' first voyage to the Americas. It has been grown in Europe since the 16th Century.
Peppers are low in calories and fat, while high in water content and fibre
and as such can be eaten as part of a low-calorie diet. It is rich in vitamin E and is a powerful natural anti-oxidant.
There are many types of peppers, but we are going to focus on the red
pepper, known as the sweet bell pepper.When buying them we should
ensure that they are meaty, hard and have a hard shiny skin, free of
bruises.They can be kept fresh in the fridge for up to ten days.
They can be eaten raw, roasted or as an ingredient in dishes and
stews. Once cooked they can be easily stored frozen.
At Botín we opt for roasting them and serving them with
Cantabrian anchovies…. A true delight that we recommend you to savour.
De los grandes maestros de la pintura europea, Rembrandt (1606-1669) es de los que cuenta con menos representación en la gran pinacoteca madrileña, solo hay una obra suya: Artemisa (1634). Por esta razón el Museo del Prado ha organizado una exposición sobre el pintor holandés con alrededor de 30 pinturas y 5 estampas que han viajado a Madrid desde los más importantes museos de Europa y Estados Unidos. La muestra se centra en Rembrandt como narrador de historias.
En la exposición se mostrarán todas las
etapas de la carrera del artista. De sus
primeras obras destaca el cuadro de San
Pedro y San Pablo. De su etapa de madurez
destaca el monumental cuadro de Sansón
y Dalila.
La exposición cuenta además con el aliciente de poder ver las obras de
Rembrandt al lado de las de los maestros que fueron su fuente de inspiración,
como es el caso de Tiziano y Rubens. Se
inaugura el 15 de octubre y podrá visitarse hasta el 6 de enero del año próximo. Una ocasión única para disfrutar del
arte del que está considerado como el
Gran Maestro de la Pintura Holandesa
