Horarios del Miércoles de Ceniza - Our Lady of the Hills Catholic

This Wednesday, February 10th is Ash Wednesday the first day of Lent. Lent is the time before Easter. The
Sign of the Cross made with ashes reminds us of Jesus' great love for us and that he died on the cross so that
we could live with him forever in heaven. Jesus gave himself on the cross to save us from sin. The Church has
traditionally recommends prayer, fasting and almsgiving as ways to help us repair and improve our lives. Lent
lasts for 40 days and ends on Holy Thursday. The forty days reminds of the time Jesus spent in the desert
fasting and praying.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and abstinence. All Catholics who have reached age 18 and
are not yet 60 years of age are required to fast on these days. All Catholics who are age 14 and older must abstain from meat on Ash
Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent.
Fast and Abstinence Requirements for Ash Wednesday and Good Friday
. Eat only one regular size meal.
. Eat two smaller meals (or Less) that do not equal your main meal.
. Do not eat or snack between meals.
. Do not eat any meat, soup made with meat, gravy, broth, or any other dish prepared with meat.
Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent we abstain from eating meat.

Este miércoles 10 de febrero es ceniza miércoles, el primer día de Cuaresma. La Cuaresma es el tiempo antes de la Pascua. La señal de la
cruz hecha con las cenizas nos recuerda del gran amor de Jesús por nosotros y que murió en la Cruz para que pudiéramos vivir con él para
siempre en el cielo. Jesús se murió en la Cruz para salvarnos del pecado. La iglesia tradicionalmente recomienda la oración, el ayuno y la
limosna como maneras para ayudarnos a reparar y mejorar nuestras vidas. La Cuaresma dura 40 días y termina el Jueves Santo. Los
cuarenta días que recuerda el tiempo que pasó Jesús en el desierto ayunando y orando. El miércoles de ceniza y Viernes Santo son días de
ayuno y abstinencia. Todos los católicos mayores de 18 años y menores de 60 años de edad, están requeridos a ayunar en estos días. Así
como todos los católicos mayores de 14 años de edad deberán abstenerse de comer carne el miércoles de ceniza y todos los viernes de
Cuaresma.
Ayuno y abstinencia para miércoles de ceniza y Viernes Santo.
- Comer solamente una comida de tamaño regular.
- Comer dos comidas más pequeñas que no sean igual que su comida principal.
- No coma entre las comidas.
- No coma carne, sopa hecha con carne, salsa, caldo o cualquier otro plato preparado con carne.
Miércoles de ceniza y todos los viernes de Cuaresma nos abstenemos a comer carne.
