Dear MIT Parents,
You may have heard that VCUSD has proposed moving the Vallejo Charter
School (VCS) program to the Springstowne campus. MIT is also interested in
this property for use as a permanent campus and, unlike VCS, is willing to
purchase it outright. As such a joint board meeting has been scheduled for
Friday, May 9th, at 5:00 pm at the VCUSD district office. However, before that
meeting can be held, VCUSD has scheduled a board vote to move VCS to
Springstowne.
As such we are asking your support as follows:
• At the Wednesday 5/7 VCUSD meeting we need parents to demand the
VCUSD Board postpone any decision about transfer of the VCS program to
the Springstowne campus until the MIT-VCUSD Board meeting on Friday
5/9.
• At the Tuesday 5/13 VCUSD meeting, we need parents to tell the
VCUSD Board that MIT students need and deserve facilities equal to those
of other schools in Vallejo, whether by ceding an existing underutilized
campus to MIT, or by inclusion on the proposed fall bond measure.
Many parents responded to our call for input on the proposed upcoming bond
measure, and that message had a significant impact on the VCUSD planning
process. As such, we are asking for your support once again so that all fair and
equitable options can be considered.

Estimados Padres de MIT,
Usted puede haber oído que VCUSD ha propuesto mover el programa Vallejo
Charter School (VCS) a la escuela Springstowne. MIT también está interesado
en esta propiedad para su uso como un campus permanente y, a diferencia de
VCS, está dispuesto a comprar de plano. Como tal una reunión de directorio
como conjunto ha sido programada para el viernes, 9 de mayo a las 5:00 pm en la
VCUSD oficina del distrito. Sin embargo, antes de esa reunión se llevará a cabo,
VCUSD ha programado una votación de la junta para mover VCS para
Springstowne.
Como tal, estamos pidiendo su ayuda de la siguiente manera:
• En la reunión VCUSD miércoles 5/7, necesitamos padres para exigir la Junta
VCUSD a posponer cualquier decisión sobre la transferencia del programa de VCS
al campus Springstowne hasta que la reunión de la Junta MIT- VCUSD el viernes
5/9.
• En la reunión VCUSD martes 5/13, es necesario que los padres dicen a la
Junta VCUSD que los estudiantes del MIT necesitan y merecen servicios
equivalentes a los de otras escuelas en Vallejo, ya sea mediante la cesión de un
campus subutilizada existente para el MIT, o por su inclusión en la propuesta
medida de bonos en otoño.
Muchos padres respondieron a nuestro llamado para la participación en la
próxima cuestión de bonos propuesta, y ese mensaje tenido un impacto
significativo en el proceso de planificación VCUSD. Como tal, estamos
pidiendo su apoyo una vez más, por lo que todas las opciones justas y
equitativas pueden ser consideradas.
