Homily and Pastor’s Desk 18th Sunday, August 3rd 2014
He was retired. He was more known for his humility and generosity. When he heard that one of his
fellow Christians was going to be out of job for three months because he had to undergo surgery, he
volunteered to do his job for him for the whole period.

This was not so that he could earn the money form that job of his fellow Christian. On the contrary he
wanted to help him because of the surgery. He was working the job so that the sick Christian could still
earn the salary. He was not doing it for himself. What a good way to share his gift. Through him the
family of his fellow Christian could still live as though their father was not sick. Is this not Jesus blessing
the loaves and fish so that the family of the sick Christian could be fend, cured and loved?

Isn’t this the call of Jesus to us all to be bread to the hungry; healing to the sick; hope to the hopeless?
Isn’t this the way a Christian disciple is supposed respond to Jesus’s words, “There is no need for this
man and his family to go away; give them some food yourselves?” With this kind of humility and
generosity what will separate us from the Love of God in Christ Jesus?

Lo retiraron. Fue más conocido por su humildad y generosidad. Cuando se enteró de que uno de sus
hermanos cristianos iba a estar fuera del trabajo durante tres meses porque tenía que somet erse a una
cirugía, se ofreció como voluntario para hacer su trabajo para él durante todo el período.

Esto no era para que pudiera ganar el dinero forma que el trabajo de su compañero cristiano. Al
contrario que quería que le ayudara a causa de la cirugía. Él estaba trabajando el trabajo de manera que
el cristiano enfermo aún podría ganar el sueldo. Él no lo hacía por sí mismo. ¡Qué manera de compartir
su don bueno. A través de él, la familia de su compañero cristiano aún podía vivir como si su padre no
estaba enfermo. ¿No es éste Jesús bendiciendo a los panes y los peces para que la familia del cristiano
enfermo podría ser defenderse, curado y amado?
¿No es éste el llamado de Jesús a todos nosotros a ser pan para los hambrientos; sanando a los
enfermos; la esperanza de los desesperados? No es esta la forma en que un discípulo cristiano se
supone responden a las palabras de Jesús: "No hay necesidad de este hombre y su familia para irse;
darles de comer ustedes mismos? "Con esta clase de humildad y generosidad que nos separará del amor
de Dios en Cristo Jesús?
