THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH, ACT FOUR
William Shakespeare
Setting: Scotland, 1000s
Macbeth visits the witches, and they show him three visions. First, he sees a head that warns
him to be afraid of Macduff. Next, a bloody child appears. The child says that no one “of
woman born” will hurt Macbeth. Last, a child wearing a crown and holding a tree appears.
The child says that Macbeth will not be defeated until the forest of Great Birnam Wood
comes to Dunsinane Hill (Macbeth’s castle.) Macbeth decides that the visions mean he is free
from harm. He asks about Banquo’s children. The witches show him visions of many kings
who are all in Banquo’s family.
Lennox arrives and tells Macbeth that Macduff has gone to England. Macbeth decides
to send men to murder Macduff’s family.
Lady Macduff and her son discuss Macduff’s trip to England. Macbeth’s men arrive and
kill them. Meanwhile, Macduff has arrived in England. He talks to Malcolm about fighting
Macbeth. A noble arrives and tells about the murder of Macduff’s family.

Macbeth visita a las brujas y ellas le muestran tres visiones. Primero, ve una cabeza que le
advierte que tenga miedo a Macduff. Después, aparece un niño sangriento. El niño dice que
nadie “nacido del vientre de una mujer” lastimará a Macbeth. Por último, aparece un niño
