La bandera dominicana
The colors and symbols of the Dominican flag reflect the country’s long
struggle for independence from France, Spain, and Haiti. It was not until 1844
that the Dominican Republic finally gained its independence.
On the Dominican flag, blue stands for liberty (libertad), red for the fire
and blood of the fight for independence (independencia), and white for
faith and sacrifice (sacrificio).
Write a description of the coat of arms (el escudo de armas). Research
and explain the symbolism of the laurel branch (rama de laurel) and
the palm branch (rama de palma).
