GINA ZABLUDOVSKY KUPER
Doctor in Sociology. Full time professor of the UNAM and National Researcher Level 3,
she has also been Visiting Professor and Researcher at other institutions such as ITAM,
FLACSO, Instituto José María Luís Mora, Columbia University and the CIDE.
She has been honored with several awards such as the Premio Nacional María Lavalle
Urbina en Investigación y Docencia en Ciencias Sociales (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 2005)
and the Premio Universidad Nacional en Investigación en Ciencias Sociales (2009). In 2015,
Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez founded a sociology chair in her name. She is
currently member of the Board of Directors of the UNAM.
Since 1991, she has devoted to research on women entrepreneurs and women executives
in Mexico. She was adviser to the United Nations Fund for Women –UNIFEM, member of
the Expert Group Meeting for Women in Economic Decision Making Positions, which
prepared the platform of action for the International Conference on Women in Beijing.
Responsible for designing the research program for the Centro de Estudios de la Mujer en
Alta dirección at IPADE.
She is the author of 28 books. Among the most recent are Intelectuales y burocracia (UNAMAnthropos, 2009); Modernidad y Globalización (SXXI-UNAM, 2010) and Empresarias y
ejecutivas en México: diagnósticos y desafíos (IPADE Plaza and Valdes 2013). In 2014, she
published her first book of stories No entiendo a las mujeres (Colophon, 2014).
In addition, she has coordinated eight texts, including Mujeres en cargos de dirección en
América Latina : estudios sobre Argentina, Chile, México y Venezuela (Miguel Angel
Porrua- UNAM, 2001) and is the author of over a hundred articles and book sections in
publications renowned worldwide. She wrote the chapters on Mexico in the books, Women
Entrepreneurs in Small and Medium Enterprises (OECD 1997) and Women in Management
Worldwide (Gower, York University, 2004 and 2001).
Organizer and coordinator of over a hundred academic events and keynote and guest
speaker of nearly 350 international conferences. Representative of Mexico in some of the
conferences on women entrepreneurs and executives organized by UN, APEC, OECD and
the recognized organization Catalyst.
She also has had an important activity in the media. She is the author of over one hundred
journalistic and broadcast articles and has granted more than a hundred interviews to the
press, radio and television. Prominent among them those given to Newsweek and The Wall
Street Journal about women in management positions.
