Nota del Mes de Mayo de la Directora del colegio
Muchas cosas buenas han pasado desde la última nota que les envíe en el mes de Abril y que
me gustaría compartir con ustedes en este boletín de noticias. Les estamos enviando este boletín
de noticias unos días antes de iniciar el mes de mayo para recordarles a cada uno de ustedes que
el lunes 2 de mayo, es un día libre por celebrarse el Día del Trabajador que se conmemora el
domingo 1 de abril. La escuela permanecerá cerrada durante este día.

Probablemente como usted ya sabe, los estudiantes de primaria y secundaria votaron para
escoger a quienes ellos querían que los representaran , motivaran y guiarán con la esperanza de
que su casa obtenga la victoria este año.
Los resultados de las votaciones fueron los siguientes:
CHURCHILL: Brijal Ahir (Capitán), Aaron Martinez (Vice - capitán) y Aandria Martinez (capitán de
Primaria)
LIONHEART: Darryn Hendricks (Capitán), Daiana Hijaz (Vice - capitán ) y Andrea García (capitán
de Primaria)
ARTHUR: Samuel Valdés (Capitán), Ivan Villalba (Vice - capitán) y Juan Pablo Villalba (capitán de
Primaria)
WELLINGTON: Octavio Almanza (Capitán), Dawn Ricahrdson (Vice - capitán ) y Corrales Krisley
(capitán de Primaria)
Estoy segura que usted se unirá en nuestras felicitaciones para los estudiantes seleccionados.
¡Sinceramente esperamos que sus mandatos sean exitosos, que trabajen para unificar y motivar a
los estudiantes en sus casas y puedan llevar a su equipo al triunfo!
¡Celebraciones de aniversario, competencias y Día Deportivo!
En abril The Oxford School cumplió 32 años de estar presente en nuestro país. ! Durante la
semana del 18 de abril, la escuela celebró una solemne misa, entregó canastillas para los recién
nacidos en el hospital a Luis Chicho Fabrega, se organizaron diferentes competencias y nuestro
primer Día Deportivo del 2016.
En el día civil del 18 de Abril se recogió un total de B/. 202.00; de los cuales utilizamos:
•
B/40.00 como ofrenda para el padre.
•
B/ 65.00 para pagra al coro con su equipo de sonido.
•
B/ 51.66 para los arreglos florales, compra de un mantel blanco, velas.
•
B/ 38.47 para comprar los refrescos
•
B/ 09.24 para comprar los vasos.
•
B/ 03.75 para comprar el hielo.
Dando un total de B/ 208.12
Nos gustaría agradecer a todos los profesores, estudiantes y padres que hicieron de estas
celebraciones un éxito. Sabemos que sin sus valiosas contribuciones, estos acontecimientos no
hubiesen sido posibles.
Nuevas computadoras en el laboratorio ICT
Somos sumamente afortunados que nuestro laboratorio ICT ha sido reacondicionado con 20
nuevas computadoras. Hemos recibido y hemos instalado 20 monitores de pantalla plana, con
sus respectivos discos duros y teclados marca Apple. Tanto iOS como el software de Microsoft
han sido instalados sobre estos dispositivos, de modo que los estudiantes puedan hacerse
familiarizarse con ambos sistemas operativos. Estamos sumamente felices sobre la velocidad, la
fiabilidad y la versatilidad que estos nuevos ordenadores ofrecen. Esperamos que los estudiantes
traten a este nuevo equipo con el cuidado y el respeto necesario para aprovecharlos al máximo.
Libros
Esperamos que usted haya sido consciente de que la librería de la escuela estaba en Santiago
otra vez durante esta semana.
La librería ha sido capaz de suministrar casi todos los libros que solicitamos este año en la lista de
libros, por lo que ahora todos los estudiantes deberían tener completo o (casi completos) el juego
de libros académicos para este año.
Si embargo, el lunes 9 de mayo, después del acto cívico, los consejeros realizarán una inspección
de libros para corroborar que todos los estudiantes tienen todos los libros de su lista (o al menos
tantos como sean posibles).
Por favor asegure que su hijo(a) traiga todos sus libros académicos del 2016 durante este día.
Después de que esto, cada estudiante recibirá una carta donde se le indicará que texto aún le
falta y que debe comprar. Esperamos que usted entienda la necesidad de que todos los
estudiantes tengan sus libros.
Hora de visita para los Padres de Primaria
Estamos seguros que de usted ha notado que los docentes de primaria ahora tendrán sus horas
de visitas cada viernes de 2:15pm a 3:15pm.
Esto ha sido cambiado para darles a los docentes de primaria más tiempo para planificar juntos y
así asegurar la consistencia a través de cada nivel del grado. Esperamos que esto no cause
ninguna molestia. Les agradecemos ponerse en contacto a tiempo con los docentes para
programar las reuniones y asegurar que sea atendido.
Próximas fechas:
- el 2 de mayo – Conmemoración del día del Trabajo – No hay clases
- 23 - el 25 de mayo: Feria Comercial y Científica.
- El 30 de mayo - el 2 de junio: Exámenes Trimestrales del Primer Trimestre.
Por favor asegúrese de conocer las calificaciones de su hijo las cuales están en la plataforma
de la escuela, de modo que usted sea consciente de sus promedios cuando inicie el período de
exámenes trimestrales.
Si usted tiene cualquier problema en cuanto a su acceso en la plataforma, por favor póngase
en contacto con Eysa Santamaria ([email protected]) para su nombre de ususario y
contraseña o con Jesús Aguilar ([email protected]) en cuanto a cualquier dificultad
técnica.
- 3 de junio: Día libre para los estudiantes. Los profesores trabajarán en la planificación del
Segundo Trimstre.

May letter from the Headteacher
Dear Parents,
Several exciting things have happened since I last wrote to you at the beginning of April, which I
would like to share with you in this newsletter. We are also releasing this newsletter a few days in
advance of May to remind everyone that next Monday, 2nd May, is Labour Day, which is therefore
a free day. School will be completely closed on this day.
Election of House Captains, Vice captains and Primary captains
As many of you proabably already know, primary and secondary pupils voted for who they wanted
to represent, motivate and hopefully lead their house to victory this year.
The results were as follows:
Churchill: Brijal Ahir (Captain), Aaron Martinez (Vice captain) & Aandria Martinez (Primary
captain)

captain)

I’m sure that you will join me in congratulating the above students for being elected. We sincerely
hope that they have successful terms of office, working to unify and motivate the students in their
houses and may the best team win!
Anniversary celebrations, competitions and Sports Day
During April The Oxford School turned 32! During the week of 18th April, the school celebrated
mass together, presented baby baskets to the Luis Chicho Fabrega Hospital, held various contests
and the first Sports Day of 2016.
The the civil day, 18th April, we collected a total of B/. 202.00, which we used in the following
manner:
B/. 40.00 as an offering to the priest
B/. 65.00 - choir and sound equipment
B/. 51.66 - for flower arrangements, table cloth and candles
B/. 38.47 - refreshments
B/. 9.24 - cups
B/. 3.75 - ice
Total: B/. 208.12
We would like to thank all of the teachers, students and parents who made these celebrations a
success. We know that without your valuable contributions, these events would not have been
possible.
New computers in the ICT lab
We are extremely fortunate that our ICT lab has been refitted with 20 new computers. We have
received and installed 20 flat screen monitors, along with Apple hard drives and keyboards. Both
iOS and Microsoft software has been installed on these devices, so that pupils can become familiar
with both operating systems.
We are extremely excited about the speed, reliability and versatility that these new computers offer.
We sincerely hope that students treat this new equipment with care and respect in order to get the
maximum benefit from it.
Books
Hopefully you were aware that the school bookstore was in Santiago again this week. They have
been able to supply almost all of the books on this year’s booklists, meaning that all students
should now have a complete (or almost complete) set of academic books for this year.
Therefore, on Monday 9th May, after the civic act, homeroom teachers will be conducting a book
inspection to check that all students have all of the books on their book list (or at least as many as
possible). Please ensure that your child brings all of their academic books for 2016 with them to
school on this day.
After this, each student will receive a letter highlighting any books that still need to be purchased.
We hope that you understand the need for all students to be able to access the books on the book
list to ensure optimal productivity, both in the classroom and during homework sessions.
Visiting times for Primary Parents
As I’m sure many of you have seen, Primary teachers will now be holding parent consultations
each Friday 2:15pm - 3:15pm. This has been changed to give primary teachers more time to plan
together to ensure consistency across each grade level.
We hope that this does not cause any inconvenience. Please remember to contact teachers ahead
of time to schedule a meeting to ensure that you get a slot!
Upcoming dates:
- 2nd May - Labour Day - No classes
- 23rd - 25th May: Science & Commerce Fair
- 30th May - 2nd June : Term 1 exams
Please make sure that you have checked your child’s grades on the school platform, so that you
are aware of their current averages, going into the exam period. If you have any problems
regarding your platform access, please contact either Eysa Santamaria
([email protected]) for your username and password or Jesus Aguilar
([email protected]) regarding any technical difficulties.
- 3rd June : Free day for pupils. Teachers will be planning, in preparation for term 2.
- 6th - 10th June : Vacation
- 13th June : Term 2 starts
