Yolanda Elementary School Food Drive December 2-16
We are again collecting canned and other nonperishable foods to donate to
Food for Lane County as a community service project during the holiday season this
year. The classroom with the highest number of food items donated will earn a
special treat for their generosity. Donations will be accepted through December 16th.

2010-2011 TRANSFER INFORMATION
ELEMENTARY IN-DISTRICT TRANSFERS
The Springfield School District will be accepting student transfer requests for the 2010-11 school year beginning
the first school day of January 2010 through the last school day of January 2010. Transfer forms are ava ilable at
your school, online (www.sps.lane.edu) or from the Instruction Office at 525 Mill Street.
Once the transfer has been approved, your student will be able to remain at the school you have chosen until they
complete 5th grade. You must submit a transfer for new students entering kindergarten or for students not
currently on an approved transfer.
Students must also reapply when changing school levels (i.e., from elementary to mid school).
Transfer requests will be approved based upon the ava ilable capacity at each school. Transfers will be processed
in the order in which they are received. Transfers received on the same day will be assigned a number according
to a lottery draw.
Transfers submitted in January 2010 which are not approved due to lack of space, or requests turned in after the
last school day of January 2010 will be considered on a one-for-one trade until the beginning of the 2010-11 school
year. It is important to realize that approved transfers will require parents to provide transportation to and
from school.
An approved transfer does not establish a priority for younger students wishing to attend the same school as an
older sibling. Each request is considered on a case by case basis regardless of the number of children in the
family. Where possible the district will attempt to keep whole families in the same school.
A student’s “resident” school is the attendance boundary where the student’s family lives. Daycare providers are
not considered the student’s residence.
Completed transfer request forms should be turned into the Instruction Office at 525 Mill Street. Should you h ave

CURRENT 5TH GRADE STUDENTS
Students who are currently 5 th graders may apply to transfer to a middle school outside their resident boundary
for the 2010-11 school year beginning the first school day of January 2010 through the last school day of January
2010. Transfer forms are ava ilable at your student’s school, online (www.sps.lane.edu) or from the Instruction
Office at 525 Mill Street. Please contact Amy Stephens at 726-3254 for more information.
OUT-OF-DISTRICT TRANSFER REQUESTS
Out of district residents, even those currently on an approved transfer, must apply each year to attend a
Springfield school.
The Instruction Office at 525 Mill Street, Springfield, will begin taking Out-of-District transfer applications
beginning the first school day in January 2010 through the last school day of January 2010 for the coming year.
A lottery drawing will occur after the last school day in January 2010. Students who attended Springfield schools
during the previous school year and are requesting to return to a Springfield school for the next school year will
be given priority over new applicants. Returning seniors will receive top priority.
Applications received after the last school day in January 2010 will be assigned to the waiting list in the order
they are received.
Out-of-District transfers are permitted on a one-for-one student exchange ONLY between the transferring
student’s resident district and the Springfield School District.

INFORMACIÓN ACERCA DE TRASLADOS PARA EL AÑO 2010-2011
ESCUELA PRIMARIA – TRASLADOS DENTRO DEL DISTRITO
El Distrito Escolar de Springfield empezará a aceptar solicitudes para el traslado de una escuela a otra para el año
escolar 2010 – 2011 a partir del primer día de clase en enero del 2010 hasta el último día escolar de enero del 2010.
Los formularios para pedir un traslado de escuela están disponibles en la escuela de su hija(o) y en la Oficina de
Currículum (Curriculum Office) que está ubicada en la Calle Mill #525 (525 Mill Street).
Una vez que ha sido aprobado el traslado, el alumno podrá permanecer en la escuela elegida hasta completa r el
grado 5. Los padres/guardianes deberán completar y entregar un formulario de traslado para los alumnos
nuevos quienes están ingresando al kindergarten o para los alumnos quienes actualmente no han sido aprobados
para un traslado.
Los alumnos deben aplicar de nuevo cuando están cambiando de nivel escolar (ej. de primaria a secundaria).
Las solicitudes para el traslado de escuela serán aprobadas dependiendo del cupo disponible en la escuela
deseada. Serán procesadas en el orden que se reciben. Los traslados recibidos el mismo día recibirán un número
seleccionado al azar.
Las solicitudes entregadas en enero del 2010 que no fueron aprobadas debido a la falta de cupo, o peticiones que
fueron entregadas después del último día escolar de enero del 2010, podrán ser consideradas para un intercambio
de un alumno por otro alumno hasta el comienzo del año escolar del 2010 – 2011. Es importante reconocer que
los traslados aprobados requieren que los padres/guardianes se hagan cargo del transporte del a lumno.
Un traslado aprobado no establece ninguna prioridad para los alumnos más jóvenes de la misma familia que
desean un traslado a la misma escuela en la cual asiste un hermano mayor. Cada solicitud será considerada
independientemente (caso por caso) sin tomar en cuenta el número de alumnos en la familia. Cuando sea posible,
el Distrito tratará de mantener a los alumnos de una familia en la misma escuela.
La escuela “residencial” de un estudiante se refiere a la área de asistencia donde radica la familia. Los locales de
los proveedores de cuidado para niños no están considerados como la residencia del a lumno.
Los formularios completados para pedir un traslado debe entregarse a la Oficina de Currículum (Office of

LOS ALUMNOS EN EL 5to GRADO
Los alumnos quienes actualmente están en el grado 5 pueden solicitar un traslado a otra escuela secundaria que

2010 hasta el último día escolar de enero del 2010. Los formularios para solicitar un traslado de escuela están

de un alumno por otro alumno hasta el comienzo del año escolar del 2010 – 2011. Es importante reconocer que

LOS TRASLADOS DENTRO DEL DISTRITO PARA LA PREPARATORIA
Se asignarán a los alumnos en el grado 8 a la escuela preparatoria en su área. La Oficina de Instrucción está en el
proceso de revisar las pautas de los traslados dentro del distrito para la preparatoria.

TRASLADOS AFUERA DEL DISTRITO
Los alumnos quienes residen afuera del distrito, incluso aquellos quienes tienen un traslado aprobado, deben
solicitar cada año para asistir a una escuela en Springfie ld.
La Oficina de Currículum (Curriculum Office), que está ubicada en la Calle Mill #525 (525 Mill Street), empezará
a aceptar solicitudes para traslado para los alumnos quienes residen afuera del distrito a partir del primer dí a
escolar de enero del 2010 hasta el último día escolar de enero del 2010 para el año entrante.
Habrá una selección por lotería después del último día escolar en enero del 2010. Los alumnos quienes asistieron
a las escuelas de Springfield durante el año escolar anterior y quienes están pidiendo volver a una escuela de
Springfield para el siguiente año escolar tendrán prioridad sobre los nuevos solicitantes. Los alumnos quienes
están entrando al grado 12 tendrán la mayor prioridad.
Las solicitudes que se reciben después del último día escolar de enero del 2010 serán asignadas a una lista de
espera en el orden en el cual fueron recibidas.
Los traslados de afuera del distrito se permiten por medio de un intercambio de un alumno por otro alumno
SOLAMENTE entre el distrito de residencia del alumno y el Distrito Escolar de Springfield.
