METRO is in the final phase of construction on three new
light-rail lines that will take to you exciting destinations
all over Houston. Testing of the new lines will start soon,
which means trains will be running. It’s important to
understand how to stay safe around the tracks, whether
you’re walking, riding or driving.
Here are some tips to
get you started:
Stay off the tracks.
Obey all traffic signs and signals around tracks.
Light-rail trains are quiet. Stay alert.
Never walk in front of, behind or between trains.
Trains can move fast, but they can’t stop fast.
Watch for trains.
Respect red lights.
Listen for horns, whistles and signal bells.
Follow lane markings in lanes shared by cars and trains.
