Today, the liturgy of the Word invites us to consider and admire St. Joseph's figure, a truly good man. About Miry
God's Mother, it has been said that she was blessed among women (cf. Lk I :42). About Joseph it has been written he was a just
man (cf. Mt l: 19).
As persons made after God's image and semblance, we all owe our individual identity to God the Father, Creator of
Heaven and Earth, with actual and radical freedom. And as a response to that freedom we can glorif,i God, as He deserves, or we
can also make, out of ourselves, something quite unpleasant to God's eyes.
We have no doubt that Joseph, through his job and personal commitment to his familial and social surroundings, sort
of won our Creator's "Heart", by considering him a man to be trusted in the collaboration of human Redemption through his
Son, made aman as we are.

“JUNTOS CONSTRUYENDO EL REINO DE DIOS”
Despertado José del sueño, hizo como el Ángel del Señor le había mandado
Hoy, la liturgia de la Palabra nos invita a considerar y admirar la figura de san José, un hombre verdaderamente
bueno. De María, la Madre de Dios, se ha dicho que era bendita entre todas las mujeres (cf. Lc 1,42). De José se ha escrito
que era justo (cf. Mt 1,19).
Todos debemos a Dios Padre Creador nuestra identidad individual como personas hechas a su imagen y semejanza,
con libertad real y radical. Y con la respuesta a esta libertad podemos dar gloria a Dios, como se merece o, también, hacer
de nosotros algo no grato a los ojos de Dios.
No dudemos de que José, con su trabajo, con su compromiso en su entorno familiar y social se ganó el “Corazón”
del Creador, considerándolo como hombre de confianza en la colaboración en la Redención humana por medio de su Hijo
hecho hombre como nosotros.
Aprendamos, pues, de san José su fidelidad —probada ya desde el inicio— y su buen cumplimiento durante el resto
de su vida, unida —estrechamente— a Jesús y a María.
Lo hacemos patrón e intercesor para todos los padres, biológicos o no, que en este mundo han de ayudar a sus hijos
a dar una respuesta semejante a la de él. Lo hacemos patrón de la Iglesia, como entidad ligada, estrechamente, a su Hijo, y
continuamos oyendo las palabras de María cuando encuentra al Niño Jesús que se había “perdido” en el Templo: «Tu padre
y yo...» (Lc 2,48).
Con María, por tanto, Madre nuestra, encontramos a José como padre. Santa Teresa de Jesús dejó escrito: «Tomé
por abogado y señor al glorioso san José, y encomendéme mucho a él (...). No me acuerdo hasta ahora haberle suplicado
cosa que la haya dejado de hacer».
Especialmente padre para aquellos que hemos oído la llamada del Señor a ocupar, por el ministerio sacerdotal, el
lugar que nos cede Jesucristo para sacar adelante su Iglesia. —¡San José glorioso!: protege a nuestras familias, protege a

DE LA CANCILLERIA. La Quinta Gala Anual en beneficio para la restauración de la catedral de St. Thomas, se llevará a cabo el 1 de febrero del
2014 en el Hotel Marriott Frenchman’s Reef, en St. Thomas, donde nuestro
obispo Herbert A. Bevard presentará el galardón de las Llaves y Espada a el
sr. Anthneil C. Ottley, presidente de Ottley Communications y a el sr. Jean
Dragin, presidente de Jean Dragin Enterprises. Comenzando con la recepción
