Subject: Chiropractic Service Limits for All Members
Overview
Beginning July 1, 2003, the Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) will limit chiropractor services
for all members. This bulletin explains the new limits to you.
Covered Chiropractic Services
Effective July 1, 2003, the IHCP will pay for no more than 50 chiropractic visits per member per
rolling 12-month period. These visits could include office visits, spinal manipulation treatments or
physical medicine treatments. However, of these 50 chiropractor visits, the IHCP will pay for only
five office visits. Effective with the new rule, the IHCP will not reimburse for durable medical
equipment (DME) provided by chiropractors. Additionally, electromyogram (EMG) testing is no
longer a covered service under the IHCP.
The following list shows the chiropractic services the IHCP will cover, with the limits discussed
above:
Chiropractic Services That Are Covered
Office visits – maximum of five
Chiropractic manipulative treatment
Radiology or X-rays
Muscle testing
Physical medicine
Laboratory tests (blood and urine)

Resumen
Comenzando el primero de Julio del 2003, el Programa de Salud Cubierto de Indiana (IHCP) va limitar
servicios quiroprácticos para todos los miembros. Este boletin le explica los nuevos limites.
Servicios Quiroprácticos Cubiertos
Efectivo el primero de Julio del 2003, el IHCP no pagara mas de 50 visitas al quiropráctico por
miembro cada 12 meses. Estas visitas pueden incluir visitas a la oficina, tratamiento de la eśpina
dorsal o tratamiento para medicina física. Sin embargo, dé estas 50 visitas, el IHCP solamente cubrirá
cinco visitas a la oficina. Efectivo con la nueva ley, el IHCP no dará reembolso por equipo durable
médico (DME) usado por los quiroprácticos. Adicional, examenes de electroyograma ya no se cubren
por medio de IHCP.
