The City of Miami, Department of Solid Waste is excited to announce the launch of its Fully Automated
Recycling Program. Recycling helps save the Earth by preserving the environment, saving energy, mitigating
global warming, reducing pollution, litter, illegal dumping and reducing waste products in our landfills.
The Blue 96 Gallon Recycle Cart will allow you to recycle more products than ever before and will be delivered
to your residence along with additional information and your new recycle collection calendar.

Your participation is vital in ensuring this recycling effort is efficient and successful. The most important action you
can take is to keep contamination out of recycling. Place garbage in your green garbage cart and recyclables in
your blue recycle cart.

Place your recyclables inside your blue 96 gallon
recycle cart.
Do not place garbage inside your recycle cart.
Roll your recycle cart out to the curbside by 6:00
AM on your recycle day.
Place your recycle cart at least 5 feet from
mailboxes, parked cars, garbage carts or other
obstacles.

Don’t throw away items that you can recycle.
Empty and rinse bottles and cans. Flatten any
boxes

The energy it takes you to
recycle is nothing compared
with the energy it saves
If it seems like too much effort to recycle, consider
this: most people use 25,000 cans in their lifetime, and
it takes 95% less energy to make aluminum cans from
recycled materials than it does to produce them from
scratch. In fact, when you trash a single can, it’s like
dumping six ounces of gasoline. Every can counts.
