Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C

Gospel - Luke 7:36-50
Reading of the Holy Gospel according to Luke
A Pharisee invited Jesus to dine with him,
and he entered the Pharisee's house and
reclined at table.
Now there was a sinful woman in the city
who learned that he was at table in the
house of the Pharisee.
Bringing an alabaster flask of ointment,
she stood behind him at his feet weeping
and began to bathe his feet with her tears.
Then she wiped them with her hair,
kissed them, and anointed them with the
ointment.
When the Pharisee who had invited him
saw this he said to himself,
"If this man were a prophet,
he would know who and what sort of
woman this is who is touching him,
that she is a sinner."
Jesus said to him in reply,
"Simon, I have something to say to you."
"Tell me, teacher," he said.
"Two people were in debt
to a certain creditor;
one owed five hundred day's wages and the
other owed fifty.
Since they were unable to repay the debt,
He forgave it for both.
Which of them will love him more?"
Simon said in reply,
"The one, I suppose, whose larger debt was
forgiven."
He said to him, "You have judged rightly."
Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon,
"Do you see this woman?
When I entered your house, you did not give me
water for my feet,
but she has bathed them with her tears
and wiped them with her hair.
You did not give me a kiss,
but she has not ceased kissing my feet since the
time I entered.
You did not anoint my head with oil,
but she anointed my feet with ointment.
So I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven
because she has shown great love.
But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves
little."
He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."
The others at table said to themselves,
"Who is this who even forgives sins?"
But he said to the woman,
"Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

Lectura del santo evangelio según San Lucas
En aquel tiempo, un fariseo invito a Jesus a comer con el. Jesus fue a la casa del fariseo y se sento
a la mesa. Una mujer de mala vida en aquella ciudad, cuando supo que Jesus iba a comer ese día
en casa del fariseo, tomo consigo un frasco de alabastro con perfume, fue y se puso detras de
Jesus, y comenzo a llorar, y con sus lagrimas banaba sus pies, los enjugo con su cabellera, los
beso y los ungio con el perfume.
Viendo esto, el fariseo que lo había invitado comenzo a pensar: "Si este hombre fuera profeta,
sabría que clase de mujer es la que lo esta tocando; sabría que es una pecadora".
Entonces Jesus le dijo: "Simon, tengo algo que decirte". El fariseo contesto: "Dímelo, Maestro". El
le dijo: "Dos hombres le debían dinero a un prestamista. Uno le debía quinientos denarios y el
otro, cincuenta. Como no tenían con que pagarle, les perdono la deuda a los dos. ¿Cual de ellos lo
amara mas?" Simon le respondio: "Supongo que aquel a quien le perdono mas".
Entonces Jesus le dijo: "Has juzgado bien". Luego, senalando a la mujer, dijo a Simon: "¿Ves a esta
mujer? Entre en tu casa y tu no me ofreciste agua para los pies, mientras que ella me los ha
banado con sus lagrimas y me los ha enjugado con sus cabellos. Tu no me diste el beso de saludo;
ella, en cambio, desde que entro, no ha dejado de besar mis pies. Tu no ungiste con aceite mi
cabeza; ella, en cambio, me ha ungido los pies con perfume. Por lo cual, yo te digo: sus pecados,
que son muchos, le han quedado perdonados, porque ha amado mucho. En cambio, al que poco
se le perdona, poco ama". Luego le dijo a la mujer: "Tus pecados te han quedado perdonados".
Los invitados empezaron a preguntarse a sí mismos: "¿Quien es este, que hasta los pecados
perdona?" Jesus le dijo a la mujer: "Tu fe te ha salvado; vete en paz".
Palabra del Señor.
