Nina Biehal leads the Children and Young People’s Social Work Research Group at the Social
Policy Research Unit, University of York. She has researched and written on a wide range of child
welfare issues and has completed studies on long-term foster care and adoption, residential care,
the reunification of children in care with their families, preventive work with adolescents,
runaways from care and leaving care. She has recently completed evaluations of Multidimensional treatment foster care and social pedagogy.
