Who Killed Jesus?
Who killed Jesus? Many have been blamed, especially the Jews. Some
have even referred to them in such hateful terms as "Christ Killers."
We could point a finger specifically at the Pharisees and chief priests.
Pontius Pilate and the Roman soldiers certainly should share in the
blame. Even Jesus' disciples could be included in the guilt. But truth
is, to answer this question we need to look no further than our mirror.
The bottom line is that each one of us is the reason Jesus died and the
reality is that no one killed him…He GAVE Himself! “The reason my
Father loves Me is that I lay down My life-- only to take it up again.
No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have
authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This
command I received from My Father” (John 10:17-18).
There were occasions when Jesus' enemies tried to kill Him, but
because it wasn't the right time, they couldn't: “At this they tried to
seize Him, but no one laid a hand on Him, because His time had not
yet come” (John 7:30), and “Again they tried to seize Him, but He
escaped their grasp” (John 10:39).
But when the time had come and the soldiers had come to arrest Jesus,
He made it clear that He was allowing Himself to be taken: "Put your
sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the
sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call on my Father,
and He will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of
angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must
happen in this way?" (Matthew 26:52-54).
Jesus gave His life to pay for the sins of each of us, and because of
God's grace that payment is applied to each who comes to Him in
faith. "God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him
we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:21).
If you haven't done it recently, make sure you thank Him. “Who gave
Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for
Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good”
(Titus 2:14).

¿Quién mató a Jesús? Muchos han sido culpados, especialmente los
judíos. Algunos les han referido en términos tan odiosos como
"Asesinos de Cristo." Pudiéramos señalar específicamente a los
Fariseos y los principales sacerdotes. Poncio Pilatos y los soldados
Romanos ciertamente comparten la culpa. Aun los discípulos de
Jesús no se escapan de la culpabilidad. Lo cierto es, que para
responder esta pregunta, no tenemos que buscar más lejos que nuestro
propio espejo. A fin de cuentas, cada uno de nosotros es la razón por
la cual murió Jesús y la realidad es que nadie lo mato... ¡Él se dio a sí
mismo! "Por eso me ama el Padre, porque Yo pongo mi vida, para
volverla a tomar. Nadie me la quita, sino que Yo de mí mismo la
pongo. Tengo poder para ponerla, y tengo poder para volverla a
tomar. Este mandamiento recibí de mi Padre” (Juan 10:17-18).
En varias ocasiones los enemigos de Jesús intentaron matarlo, pero
como no era su tiempo, no pudieron: Pero cuan “Entonces procuraban
prenderle; pero ninguno le echo mano, porque aun no había llegado
Su hora” (Juan 7:30) y “Procuraron otra vez prenderle, pero Él se
escapo de sus manos” (Juan 10:39).
Pero cuando el tiempo había llegado y los soldados llegaron para
arrestar a Jesús, Él les hizo saber claramente que Él estaba permitiendo
ser llevado: “…Jesús le dijo: Vuelve tu espada a su lugar: porque
todos los que tomen espada, a espada perecerán. ¿Acaso piensas que
no puedo ahora orar a mi Padre, y que Él no me daría más de doce
legiones de ángeles? ¿Pero como entonces se cumplirían las
Escrituras, de que es necesario que así se haga?” (Mateo 26:52-54).
Jesús dio Su vida para pagar por los pecados de todos nosotros. Y por
la gracia de Dios el pago es aplicado a cada persona que viene a Él en
fe. “Al que no conoció pecado, por nosotros lo hizo pecado, para que
nosotros fuésemos hechos justicia de Dios en Él” (2 Corintios 5:21).
Si no lo has hecho recientemente, asegúrate de agradecerle. “Quien se
dio a sí mismo por nosotros para redimirnos de toda iniquidad y
purificar para Sí un pueblo propio, celoso de buenas obras” (Tito
2:14).

Jesus said –
"On reaching the place, He said to them, 'Pray that you will not
fall into temptation.' He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond
them, knelt down and prayed, 'Father, if You are willing, take this
cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done'" (Luke 22:40-42).
Jesús dijo –
"Cuando llegaron al lugar, les dijo: 'Oren para que no caigan en
tentación.' Entonces se separó de ellos a una buena distancia,
se arrodilló y empezó a orar: 'Padre, si quieres, no me hagas
beber este trago amargo; pero no se cumpla mi voluntad, sino la
tuya'" (Lucas 22:40-42).
