Note From the Pastor
Dear friends,
Recently Bishop Garcia asked us priests to promote respect for human life by encouraging Catholics to consider registering in the California Transplant Donor Network.
This non-profit organization is the link between organ and tissue donors … and patients on the transplant waiting list. At the time of death, part or all of a person’s heart,
intestines, kidneys, liver, lungs, pancreas, bones, corneas, skin, tendons or veins, might
actually be used to help a sick person come back to normal life.
As of 2 months ago, over 7 million Californians were on the California Donors’ Registry. The bishop is on it. So am I. (This is good, because 18 people die daily because
of the shortage of available organs.) Even the Pope is on a similar list! He writes:
“To donate one’s organs is an act of love … a free act of love, of availability, that
every person of good will can do … for someone else. As for myself, I have agreed to
give my organs to whomever might be in need.”
How would you like to go around with the Pope’s heart inside you! (Actually, maybe
that’s not such a big deal, since Catholics after communion have Jesus’ body and
blood inside.)
Peace and All Good!

Una nota del Párroco
Queridos amigos:
¡Paz y Todo Bien!

STEWARDSHIP REPORT
Time and Talent …. Today’s theme is perseverance - Moses keeping his hands upraised
throughout the battle, Paul urging Timothy to stay with the task of preaching and teaching, and
the widow appealing to the corrupt judge. To be faithful stewards of God’s gifts, we too must
persevere in the roles to which we are called.

REVERSE GIVING PROJECT - The Reverse Giving Project has finally come to an end. The
Stewardship Committee would like to thank everyone who participated. If you recall, a little over a
year ago, $10,000.00 was given out to the parishioners with the invitation to live St. Matthew's parable of the talents. We had no idea then what would happen with the economy being the way it is.
For a while, we worried that we would not even bring back the original $10,000 to the parish. We
decided that would be all right because the focus of the project was to live the parable and not everyone in the parable "doubled their talents". We prayed to the Holy Spirit and when the project ended,
we felt blessed that we received back, $14, 463.00. We are in the process of inviting St. Patrick's
Parish in Watsonville to accept the original $10,000 and are asking them to also live the parable of the
talents. The remaining money will stay in our parish and be given to the charities' fund. Watch for
the next parish newsletter, where we will try to list all the comments from the reverse giving participants. Thank you once again.
