OUR COVER IMAGE
Adam G. Clause earned his bachelor’s degree in 2010 at the University
of California, Davis. Post-graduation, he worked for several years as a
technician in H. Bradley Shaffer’s laboratory at UC Davis (now at UCLA),
and now is a Ph.D. student advised by John C. Maerz at the University of
Georgia. Adam’s dissertation research centers on the spatial ecology and
conservation biology of gerrhonotine anguid lizards, with a particular focus
on California’s Elgaria panamintina and the Latin American genus Abronia.
He maintains broad interests in Neotropical herpetology, social perceptions
of herpetofauna, and natural history. The cover image illustrates an adult
Bolitoglossa platydactyla, collected from Las Porfiadas, Municipio de
Soledad Atzompa, Veracruz, Mexico, at 1,350 m elevation. As as currently
' © Flora Luo recognized, this taxon is widely distributed across eastern Mexico from
southern San Luis Potosi to western Chiapas. The individual shown was captured by a young boy under a stone at
the base of a banana plant, among houses in a rural town bordering tropical scrub forest.
