Using Freedom Wisely.
In the world today there is a great misunderstanding about freedom. Many people think
that freedom is my ability to do anything I
want. We call that idolatry and sin. Freedom is
choosing to do what God wants and reveals as good which
gives me true freedom. “There is no true freedom except in
the service of what is good and just. The choice to disobey
and do evil is an abuse of freedom and leads to ‘the slavery
of sin.’”
“Freedom is the power to act or not to act, and
so to perform deliberate acts of one’s own. Freedom attains
perfection in its acts when directed toward God, the sovereign Good.”
“Freedom characterizes properly
human acts. It makes the human being responsible for acts of
which he is the voluntary agent. His deliberate acts properly
belong to him.” “Freedom and sin. Man’s freedom is limited and fallible. In fact, man failed. He freely sinned. By
refusing God’s plan of love, he deceived himself and became
a slave to sin. This first alienation engendered a multitude of

Cross Catholic Outreach
Next weekend (July 30-31), Father Stephen LaCanne will be here speaking
for Cross Catholic International. Cross
Catholic Outreach. Cross Catholic Outreach is “a Catholic ministry that serves the poorest of the
poor internationally by channeling aid through dioceses,
parishes, and Catholic missionaries, cost-effectively helping the poor break the cycle of poverty while advancing
Catholic evangelization.”
Fr. LeCanne “was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of
St. Paul-Minneapolis in 1976. He graduated from the University of St. Thomas and St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul.
He served as pastor for fifteen years, Director of Spiritual
Care in a hospital for over eleven years.”
“Fr. Steve has a passion for serving the sick, dying and
those on the margins of society. He says: ‘healing wounds
in the hearts of those who are suffering, especially the
emotionally, spiritually and physically poor, expresses
God’s love to those most in need. This is the call of the

El Futuro de San Clemente
El uso de la libertad sabiamente.
En el mundo de hoy hay un gran malentendido
acerca de la libertad. Mucha gente piensa que la
libertad es mi capacidad para hacer lo que quiera.
Llamamos a que la idolatría y el pecado.
La libertad es la elección de hacer lo que Dios quiere y revela lo
bueno que me da la verdadera libertad. "No hay verdadera libertad sino en el servicio de lo que es bueno y justo. La elección de
la desobediencia y del mal es un abuso de la libertad y conduce
a "la esclavitud del pecado.'"
"La libertad es el poder de
actuar o no actuar, y así llevar a cabo los actos deliberados de la
propia. La libertad alcanza su perfección cuando está ordenada
a Dios, el supremo Bien."

Cross Catholic Outreach es "un ministerio católico que sirve a

Below are the dates and times of Virtus, safe environment training for minors. Anyone and everyone who wishes to volunteer in church functions/activities/ministries (not limited to ushers, choirs, altar servers, babysitters at St. Clement functions)
must attend the training classes offered to the parish PSR classes. If you do not attend and go through Virtus, you will not be

On Tuesday night, July 26, the topic of the Spiritual Growth Class will be “Purgatory: Holy
Fire”. The DVD will present Scriptural evidence to help Catholics understand and explain to
others the doctrine of Purgatory. The concept of Purgatory is often misunderstood, and knowing
the Biblical principles behind it will both strengthen our faith and help us appreciate this
foundational doctrine of our faith. Join us at 6:30 pm sharp!
