It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is almost upon us! The year’s end always brings
with it a tremendous sense of accomplishment. So many things have been accomplished this year!
From the Fall Festival, McTeacher Nights, Minion Reading Night, Specials Night, 1st Color Run, to the
Kindergarten Graduation and 4th grade Send Off – our students have been involved in an extraordinary
number of activities. Of course, we should not forget the tremendous amount of learning which has
taken place during the year. Throughout all of these activities our students have demonstrated great
character! They have shown great Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Cooperation.
A big thank you goes out to our PTO. They have been a huge support to the students and teachers at
Rice. This year they were able to raise funds to add a new play structure to our playground, stock the
Star Bucks cart, Reading Incentives, and I am excited to announce a new Sound system for the
stage!!!!
To our 4th graders – Congratulations on your achievement. The B.B. Rice staff wishes you all the
best as you move to your new school. We look forward to hearing from the graduates in the future and
we hope that each of them will have gained a firm foundation while at Rice. We know that many of
them will come by and visit.
For those families who will be returning in August, school will begin on Monday, August 22nd. Due to
the number of families moving in and out of Rice over the summer, class lists will continue to be revised up until the beginning of school. In order to meet the needs of all students, we do not take parent request for placement. Parents should also recognize that the grade “make-up” of classes may
also change between now and August depending on student enrollment. For this reason, you will receive a postcard the week of August 15th, to let you know your child’s teacher.
I am honored to be the principal at B.B. Rice. I look forward to all the memories we will make. I would
like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and happy summer.

PREPRE-K
As the year closes out, I look back and see how much our
students have grown both academically and physically. They are
ready for Kindergarten! Be sure to read, read, read this summer
and don’t forget to practice writing words and letters as well.

It's hard to believe we have almost completed another school year. Your
children have come a long way and accomplished so much as second graders. We appreciate all your help and support throughout the year. We want
to strongly encourage you to continue reading with your children throughout
the summer. It is so important for them to continue practicing their reading
strategies so that they do not lose any skills already learned before third
grade. We also want to encourage you to take your children to the public
library and check out books. If your child is ready, we encourage you to get
them reading a chapter book series on their level. This is a great way to
keep them interested and reading. We also want to remind you to continue
practicing their math facts, addition and subtraction to 20. They will be expected to know these when entering third grade. We will be having a picnic
on the last day of school and want to invite you to come and join us. It's a
great time to take pictures, sign yearbooks, and remember all the fun we
have had this year. Have a great summer and we will see you next year!
3RD GRADE

This is a very busy time of the year for Kindergarten!
Please make sure your child reads his/her book every night
and returns it the next day so that another child can read it.

We are pleased with all of the hard work we are seeing from students as they approach the end of the school year. Preparing for May, we have some academic
news as well as a Field Day event.
In Reading we are reviewing summarizing, sequencing, and finding text evidence to
support our answers. Students are looking forward to a reading and writing research unit that focuses on researching animals. Students will use Ipas and
Chromebooks to strengthen their research skills as they collaborate with other
students and share their findings.
Math includes a focus on one and two step problem solving by formulating a plan,
finding a solution, and evaluating the solution for reasonableness. It is vital that all
students know their multiplication and division facts and practice them throughout
the summer for next year.
In social studies we are going to learn about how Hispanic heritage influenced
America. We will read about Ellen Ochoa, Juan de Oñate, Carmen Lomas Garza,
Johnny "Danny" Olivas, and Hector P. Garcia and their contributions to our communities. We will also learn how culture and traditions are celebrated around the
world.
In Science students are learning about staying healthy. In addition, students continue to learn about advertising and how to question product claims. This unit
wraps up with a study of the body systems including the circulatory, respiratory,
digestive, muscular, skeletal, and digestive systems.
Again, we are very proud of our third graders this year and appreciate your support
throughout the school year. Look for reminders about our upcoming Field Day!
4TH GRADE
There are a lot of exciting things going on in 4th grade as we approach the
end of the school year and transition out of elementary school. In May,

I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful opportunity to serve as

WOW! I can’t believe that May is already here, the year has flown by! Our 3rd and 4th grade students are
ready and prepared to rock the STAAR Test, 2nd, 1st, Kinder and PreK have enjoyed their field trips, and
all are getting ready for summer! All our students have worked exceptionally hard and deserve
to have a fun and relaxing summer. I could not be more proud of them!
Parents, during summer kids can get very restless and bored. Here are a few ideas that you could do to
keep the kids active, and entertained during the summer.
Visit the beach and collect shells
Set up a lemonade stand
Make a sidewalk chalk mural
Have a picnic at a state park
Have a water balloon fight
Run through sprinklers
Bake cookies for ice cream sandwiches
Go biking on a trail
Pick berries
Make a fort out of cardboard boxes

This has been a wonderful school year in the library!
Children have checked out many books and have worked
very hard to reach their personal reading goals. Since they
have improved their reading skills through many activities,
they must continue to practice during the summer.
A good way to help your children maintain their
reading skills is to have them participate in the summer
reading programs sponsored by the Montgomery County
Library each year. The library number is 936.539.7814.
Call and get information about storytimes and the Summer
Reading Club. Plan to take your children to the
County Library and have them participate in this summer
fun while maintaining their reading skills.
Read, Read, Read!! Have a great summer, and
thanks for your help and support of the Rice Library.
Just a reminder, some of our students have medication in the
clinic. I will be sending out end of the year medication reminder
notes home with students who have medication in the clinic.
Due to school policy we are unable to send medication home
with students. Please make arrangements for medication to be
picked-up. Any medication not picked-up by Thursday June 2nd
2016 by 3:30 pm will be discarded.

Hey Rice Raccoons! We have been very busy! We had a wonderful color run that made over $20,000.00!!! With that
money we were able to pay off the rest of the new sound system for our Rice Raccoons!!! Our Mother son dance was
very exci#ng! It was great to see all of you super heroes get out there and dance! May is going to be a very exci#ng
month! As we start to wrap up our school year we have a couple of final things going home in our Tuesday folders.
Keep an eye out for our pre-sale of school supplies! Get them now so you do not have to worry about them later! All
pre-sold supplies will be dropped off in your child’s classroom before Meet the Teacher night next year! We will be selling our yearbooks for $35.00 through the end of the month! If you have not ordered yours, please keep a look out in
the Tuesday folders for the forms.

Mas que competente en las habilidades básicas de lectura, escritura
y matemáticas, es la misión de la escuela de ayudar al alumno a

Es difícil de creer que el fin del año escolar está casi sobre nosotros! El fin de año siempre trae consigo una tremenda sensación de logro. Tantas cosas se han logrado este año! Desde el Festival de Otoño, Noches de McTeacher, Noche de Lectura de Minions, Noche de Especiales, nuestra primer color
run, la Graduación de Kínder y despedida de 4º grado- nuestros estudiantes han participado en un número extraordinario de actividades. Por supuesto, no hay que olvidar la enorme cantidad de aprendizaje que ha tenido lugar durante el año. A lo largo de todas estas actividades nuestros estudiantes han
demostrado un gran carácter! Han mostrado gran respeto, responsabilidad, honestidad y Cooperación.
Quiero extender un gran agradecimiento a nuestro PTO. Ellos han sido un gran apoyo a los estudiantes y maestras/os de Rice. Este año recaudamos fondos para añadir una nueva estructura de juegos
para el patio de recreo, mantener el carito de Starbucks con artículos para los estudiantes, incentivo de
la lectura, y un nuevo sistema de sonido para el escenario!!!!
Para nuestros estudiantes de 4to grado - Felicidades por su logro. El personal de B. B. Rice les desea
lo mejor en su transición a su nueva escuela. Esperamos con interés escuchar de los graduados en el
futuro y esperamos que cada uno de ellos se hayan ganado una base firme, mientras hayan estado en
Rice. Sabemos que muchos de ellos vienen a visitar.
Para aquellas familias que regresarán en agosto, la escuela comenzará el lunes, 22 de agosto. Debido
a que el número de familias que se mudaran a y se irán de Rice durante el verano, las listas de clases
serán revisas hasta el comienzo de la escuela. Con el fin de satisfacer las necesidades de todos los
estudiantes, no tomamos solicitud de los padres para maestros que quieran para sus hijos. También
deben reconocer que puede haber cambio de clases debido al registro cual puede cambiar entre ahora
y agosto, dependiendo de la matrícula de estudiantes. Por esta razón, usted recibirá una tarjeta postal
la semana del 15 de agosto, para hacerle saber la maestra/o de su niño/a.

SEGUNDO GRADO
PREPRE-K
Pre-K está trabajando duro para dominar todos los conocimientos que se han introducido. Si su hijo/hija no ha dominado algunas habilidades, por favor no dude en ponerse en
contacto con la maestra para las cosas que puede hacer en
casa para ayudarlos. Nuestra excursión al bosque de 7 Acres
Wood ha sido reprogramado para el 10 de mayo. Vamos a
necesitar acompañantes así que marquen sus calendarios y
comprobar sus horarios de trabajo. En las próximas semanas
comenzare los exámenes del ultimo del año. Por eso es muy
importante que su hijo/hija continúe asistiendo al escuela
todos los días al menos que este enfermo.
Es increíble pensar que el año escolar ya casi ha terminado. Sus hijos han
llegado tan lejos y han hecho tanto en el segundo año. En verdad les agradecemos todo su apoyo a través del año. Queremos pedirles que continúen leyendo con sus hijos y que sigan practicando todas las sumas y restas así como
contar dinero y decir la hora para que no se les olvide al llegar a tercero grado.
Así mismo les queremos pedir que visiten la biblioteca para sacar libros y para
que usen las computadoras. Si sus hijos están listos dejen que lean libros de
capítulos. Es una manera de mantenerlos ocupados e interesases en la lectura.
Es muy importante que sigan practicando todas las habilidades que aprendieron puesto que verán nuevas estrategias a un nivel muy alto. No olviden practicar la rapidez de la lectura y las sumas y restas básicas. Es muy importante
que no dejen de leer durante el verano. Si tienen acceso a internet les recomendamos que lean libros en You Tube. Tendremos un día de campo al final
del año y están invitados a acompañarnos ese día pues será un gran día para
tomar fotos y recordar el año. ¡Que tengan un estupendo verano y nos vemos
el próximo año!
TERCER GRADO
KÍNDER
Esta época del año es muy ocupada para Kindergarten. Favor asegúrese que
los libros de lectura guiada los lean y se devuelvan el día siguiente para que
otro niño pueda usar . El verano llegara muy pronto. Es muy importante que su
hijo/a continúe leyendo y escribiendo durante este tiempo.

Estimados padres de familia del tercer grado,
Estamos muy satisfechos con todo el duro trabajo que estamos viendo de nuestros estudiantes a medida que se acercan el final del año escolar. Preparación para mayo, tenemos
algunas noticias académicos, y también un evento de día de campo.
En lectura estamos revisando como resumir, la secuenciación, y la búsqueda de evidencias del texto para apoyar a nuestras respuestas. Los estudiantes trabajarán en una unidad de investigación de lectura y escritura que se centra en la investigación de los animales. Los estudiantes usarán Ipads y Chromebooks para fortalecer sus habilidades de investigación a medida que colaboran con otros estudiantes y compartir sus hallazgos.
Matemáticas incluye un enfoque en uno y dos pasos resolviendo un problema mediante de
la formulación de un plan, la búsqueda de una solución, y la evaluación razonable de la
solución. Es vital que todos los estudiantes conozcan sus multiplicaciones y divisiones y
las practiquen durante todo el verano para el próximo año.

con los mejores estudiantes y padres de familia de nuestro distrito escolar de
Conroe! Espero que usted y su familia tengan y disfruten de unas seguras y
relajantes vacaciones de verano. Por favor recuerden los consejos de seguridad
durante el verano y de tomar suficientes líquidos. Así como también continúen
leyendo en casa con su hijo(a) como hasta ahora lo han hecho, les sugiero visitar
la biblioteca pública de Conroe para pedir prestados algunos libros.

¡GUAUU! No puedo creer que mayo ya esté aquí, el año ha pasado volando! Nuestros alumnos de 3º y 4º grado
están listos y preparados para pasar la Prueba de STAAR, 2ª, 1ª, Kínder y Pre-K han disfrutado de sus
excursiones, y todos se están preparando para el verano! Todos nuestros estudiantes han trabajado
excepcionalmente duro y merecen tener un verano divertido y relajante. No podría estar más orgullosa de ellos!

Este ha sido un año maravilloso en la biblioteca!
Los niños han leído muchos libros y han trabajado
duro para alcanzar sus metas en su lectura personal.
Ya que han mejorado sus habilidades de lectura a

Una buena manera de ayudar a sus hijos a mantener

Hola mapaches de Rice! Hemos estado muy ocupados! Tuvimos una maratón “color run” maravilloso del cual
recaudamos más de $ 20,000.00!!! Con este dinero pudimos pagar el resto del nuevo sistema de sonido para
nuestro mapaches !!! El baile de Madre y hijo fue muy emocionante! Fue genial ver a todos los superhéroes salir
y bailar! Mayo va a ser un mes muy emocionante! A medida que comienza a terminar este año escolar tenemos
un par de cosas finales que mandaremos a casa en las carpetas del martes. Este pendiente por la forma de preventa de útiles escolares! Así que llene la hoja de pedido ahora para que después no se preocupe. Todos los pedidos serán entregados en la clase de su hijo antes de conocer a los maestros! Estaremos vendiendo nuestros
