Enclavada en lo alto de Valdelarco, la iglesia del Divino
Salvador observa toda la comarca desde su posición privilegiada.
En pleno centro de la localidad serrana, a escasos metros del edificio del Ayuntamiento, se levanta desde 1768
este imponente templo neoclásico. Sería D. Pedro de Silva,
maestro de obras del Arzobispado de Sevilla, quien mandó
construirlo sobre el anterior, barroco, destruido en 1755 por
el asolador terremoto de Lisboa.
Located on top of Valdelarco, the Church of Divino Salvador
watches the entire region from its privileged position.
At the heart of this town in the Sierra region, just a few
metres from the City Hall, this magnificent neoclassic temple raises since 1768. It was Pedro de Silva, master builder
of the Archbishopric of Seville the person who ordered its
construction on the previous Baroque one, destroyed in
1755 by the devastating earthquake of Lisbon.
Se aprovechó para ampliar la iglesia y sustituir el campanario por una torre neoclásica, más del gusto de la época. En
la fachada de ladrillo y mampostería se sitúan las dos portadas, con tímpanos partidos sobre pilastras neoclásicas.
It was taken the opportunity to enlarge the church and replace the tower bell with a neoclassic tower, more aligned
with the taste of that time. On the brick and masonry frontage there are two façades with broken tympanums supported by neoclassic pilasters.
Su interior es de planta de cruz latina con bóveda de cañón.
Tiene crucero, ábside con capillas laterales y coro.
Inside it has a Latin cross plan floor with barrel vault, transept, apse with side chapels and choir.
De la construcción destaca el equilibrio de sus proporciones, la sencillez de su interior y el impresionante emplazamiento en el que se alza, simbolizando el imperio de lo
divino sobre lo terrenal.
This construction is outstanding because of the balance of
its proportions, the simplicity of the inside and the amazing
site it is located at, symbolizing the rule of the divine over
the earthly.
Durante las fiestas patronales celebradas en agosto, cuando muchos emigrantes vuelven a pasar el verano, la imagen
del Divino Salvador es sacada en procesión desde esta iglesia, produciéndose una estampa muy esperada por todos
los habitantes de este hermoso pueblo.
During the patron saint fiestas celebrated in August, when
many emigrants come to spend the summer, the image of
the Divino Salvador is carried out in procession from this
church, creating a nice image very expected for the people
of this beautiful town.
