On June 24, in Seville, the celebration of the Board
of the Andalusia Technology Corporation (CTA) took place
at the Hotel Alfonso XIII, with the participation of José
Sánchez Maldonado, Minister of Economy, Innovation,
Science and Employment.
El pasado 24 de Junio se celebró en Sevilla el Patronato
de Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía (CTA), reunido
en el Hotel Alfonso XIII de Sevilla, con la asistencia
del consejero de Economía, Innovación, Ciencia y Empleo,
José Sánchez Maldonado.
Sánchez Maldonado congratulated the foundation
for the results achieved in 2013, “which emphasise the
need and importance of public-private cooperation,
in order to stimulate R&D&I, as well as the importance
of connecting the manufacturing industry with the
Andalusian public universities,” also remarking that the
involvement of company in R&D&I “will be crucial
and essential, to be more competitive in the future”.
Sánchez Maldonado transmitió su felicitación a la fundación
por los resultados obtenidos en 2013, “que ponen en valor
la necesidad y trascendencia de la colaboración públicoprivada para impulsar la I+D+i, así como la conexión entre
el tejido productivo y las universidades públicas andaluzas”,
y señaló que el compromiso de las empresas con la I+D+i
“va a ser decisivo e indispensable para ganar un futuro más
competitivo”.

In recent years, Andalusia has made the greatest effort
in the country in terms of R&D, covering 17% of the share
in R&D throughout Spain. This result was made possible
through the investment efforts of the Government
of Andalusia, which considers its innovation and research
policy as strategic, allocating 345 million euro to the cause
this year.
For his part, the CEO of CTA, Joaquín Moya-Angeler
thanked the minister for the support of the Government
of Andalusia granted to the Corporation and stressed
that he is convinced that the focus of the Government
of Andalusia on innovation will give the benefit
of a competitive advantage in the future.
ITURRI is one of the 44 companies that founded the
Andalusia Technology Corporation in October 2005. Since
its founding, ITURRI has been the patron and a full-time
member of the CTA and cooperates in R&D&I projects from
the beginning of its activities.
The CTA Patronage approved the audited annual report
for 2013 and has reviewed the activities of the Foundation
in the first semester of the year, in which 19 new
R&D&I projects have been approved, mobilising private
investments of over 15.5 million euro.
The Corporation continues to finance new business
initiatives in the field of R&D&I, despite the difficult economic environment. The Corporation was also presented
with the report for 2013, which includes the major
milestones and activities of the Foundation in the past
financial year.
ITURRI, in its constant concern for working on solutions
giving our customers a real value, invests financial resources
and personnel each year and has high hopes for the new
development work and R&D&I projects. For this purpose,
it is always trying to be in an environment that helps and
supports innovation. Andalusia Technology Corporation has
been giving excellent support to this cause for many years.
Andalucía ha realizado en los últimos años el mayor
esfuerzo nacional en I+D, con un 17% del total de España.
Este resultado ha sido posible por el esfuerzo inversor
de la Junta de Andalucía, que ha mantenido como
estratégicas las políticas de innovación e investigación,
para las que este año destina 345 millones de euros.
Por su parte, el presidente de CTA, Joaquín Moya-Angeler,
agradeció al consejero el respaldo de la Junta de Andalucía
a la Corporación y apuntó que está convencido de que
la apuesta diferencial por la innovación que ha mantenido
el Gobierno andaluz será una ventaja competitiva
en el futuro.
ITURRI es una de las 44 empresas que, en Octubre de 2005,
fundaron la Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía. Desde
la fundación, ITURRI es patrono y miembro numerario
de CTA, y colabora en proyectos de I+D+i desde el inicio
de la actividad.
El Patronato de CTA aprobó las cuentas anuales auditadas
de 2013 y repasó la actividad de la Fundación durante
el primer semestre del año, en el que se aprobaron
19 nuevos proyectos de I+D+i, que han movilizado una
inversión privada en innovación superior a 15,5 millones
de euros.
La Corporación continúa así financiando nuevas
iniciativas empresariales de I+D+i pese al difícil entorno
económico. También se presentó la Memoria 2013
de la Corporación, que recoge los principales hitos
y actividades de la Fundación durante el ejercicio pasado.
ITURRI, en su constante inquietud por trabajar
en soluciones que aporten valor de verdad a nuestros
clientes, invierte cada año recursos económicos, recursos
personales y mucha ilusión en nuevos desarrollos
y en proyectos de I+D+i. Y para ello intenta estar siempre
en un entorno que ayude y fomente esa innovación.

This award is not a recognition for the past, but
a commitment to work even better in the future. These
were the words of Juan Francisco Iturri, CEO of the
company, while receiving the 13th ABC Awards for Business
Achievements in Andalusia, which is awarded by the
Economics Department of the newspaper under the
auspices of the Sabadell Bank. This award was received
at the headquarters of the ABC newspaper by the CEO
of ITURRI with his mother, María Luisa Franco, from the
hands of the Mayor of Seville, Juan Ignacio Zoido, and the
CEO and editor of ABC, Catalina Luca de Tena. The director
of the ABC branch in Seville, Álvaro Ybarra reminded that
ITURRI is a “powerful and strong project that accomplished
a great international expansion without leaving their
offices in Seville”.

Estas fueron las palabras de Juan Francisco Iturri, director
general de la compañía, al recibir el XIII Premio ABC
a la Trayectoria Empresarial en Andalucía, que concede
la Sección de Economía del periódico con el patrocinio
de Banco Sabadell. Esta distinción la recogió en la Casa
de ABC junto a su madre María Luisa Franco, presidenta
de ITURRI, de manos del alcalde de Sevilla, Juan Ignacio
Zoido, y la presidenta editora de ABC, Catalina Luca
de Tena. El director de ABC de Sevilla, Álvaro Ybarra,
recordó que ITURRI es «una industria pujante y consolidada
que sin abandonar su sede hispalense ha logrado
una notable expansión internacional».

Due to the fact that we are talking about one of the most
“introverted” groups from Andalusia, both with regard
to their public statements and the presence in the media,
Juan Francisco Iturri’s words, addressed to the audience
represented by major businessmen and executives from
the region, were a valuable testimony to the history
and philosophy of the company. “Who are we? More than
1.8 million people in the world are protected by our
products, from the English soldier of the French policeman;
and from the Chilean forest firefighter to a worker
in an automotive plant in Poland or steel mills in Brazil”,
noted the CEO, who paid tribute to the legacy of his
grandfather, Juan Iturri Landajo (who founded a company
selling ship articles on Paseo de Colón), and his father, Juan

el legado de su abuelo, Juan Iturri Landajo (que fundó
en el Paseo de Colón una empresa dedicada a la venta
de efectos navales); y el de su padre, Juan Iturri Gisbert,

the first contract for the supply for English troops, there
was a gala dinner, during which the British national
anthem and later the Spanish national anthem were
heard, and in that moment, I was moved, thinking about
those men, because without their stubbornness we would
never be able to get this far”.
Juan Francisco Iturri quoted his father’s words of wisdom
given to the company, “like those that everything which
ITURRI has it owes to its customers, which is why they are
always put in the first place; employees are right after the
customers, and even though there are no perfect people,
you can build a perfect team of people; deep honesty
in relations with all ... “. And finally, the energy that is behind
the company, which has grown thanks to the support
of three generations, “a strong family, the closer and

Juan Francisco Iturri repasó las enseñanzas que su padre

siempre lo primero; que las personas vienen después,
y aunque no hay hombres perfectos, si se pueden conseguir
equipos humanos perfectos; la profunda honestidad
en la relación con todo el mundo...». Y para concluir,
la fibra que late detrás de una compañía que ha crecido con
el impulso de tres generaciones, «una potente familia,
la directa y la indirecta, porque son tan importantes los que
están como los que no están pero sufren ante los problemas

the distant one, because those who are here are just
as important as those who are not here, but who suffer due
to the company’s problems, without receiving a salary”.
During the award ceremony, Álvaro Ybarra outlined the
professional trajectory of Juan Iturri, a degree on Economics
and a master of the London Business School, “an example
of perseverance and common sense”, who began his
career as a consultant and whose clients include the ABC
newspaper from Seville. He also brought focus to the quiet
work of María Luisa Franco, which is a pragmatic example
of “how family values can translate into the business world”.
The Mayor of Seville, Juan Ignacio Zoido, stressed “the
perseverance and effort” of the company saga, to open
the way in a “complex sector” and to gain a share of the
international market. “You supply the British military and
that’s not easy,” mentioned Zoido, referring to one of the
cornerstones of the company from Seville, specialising
in the production and distribution of technical apparel,
military footwear and fire trucks, in existence for 70 years.

El alcalde de Sevilla, Juan Ignacio Zoido, subrayó
el «empeño y el esfuerzo» de la saga empresarial para abrirse
camino en «un sector complicado» y conquistar cuotas
en el mercado internacional. «Equipáis al ejercito británico
y eso no es nada fácil», señaló Zoido, aludiendo a uno
de los hitos de esta firma sevillana, especialista
en fabricación y distribución de vestuario técnico, calzado
militar y vehículos contra incendios, que ya ha cumplido
70 años.
Por su parte, el director de Empresas de la Territorial Sur
de Banco Sabadell, Agustín Rodríguez, felicitó a la

Preparados para hacer frente a las crecientes necesidades de los clientes en Polonia
En el año 2008 Eurosoft Sp. z o.o. y el Grupo ITURRI iniciaron
en Polonia una cooperación muy intensa. Desde entonces
han ampliado la gama de sus soluciones y servicios,
de acuerdo con la estrategia del Grupo y con las necesidades del mercado. También se ha incrementado
la plantilla de 60 a 100 personas. Finalmente, el verano
de 2014 las dos empresas se fusionaron y hoy están
preparadas para prestar a sus clientes el mejor nivel
de servicios. Las inversiones realizadas en Polonia hasta
la fecha están diseñadas exclusivamente para dar servicio
y cumplir las crecientes necesidades de los clientes
y para crear nuevas soluciones a medida.
In 2008 Eurosoft Sp. z o.o and ITURRI Group started a very
intensive cooperation in Poland. Since then, they have
improved their range of solutions and services according
to the Group strategy and market needs. Also the team
has grown from 60 to 100 employees. Finally in Summer
2014, both companies merged and now they are fully ready
to provide their customers with the best level of services.
All new investments already done in Poland are exclusively
to be prepared to support and cover increasing customer
needs and create new solutions and tailor-made services.
The Group have also changed the name of the local
company into ITURRI Poland Sp. z o.o (former
Eurosoft Sp. z o.o.) which better represents their identity
as a multinational corporation. Despite of different name
they keep the same people and same commitment
to achieve their objectives.
También ha cambiado el nombre de la empresa polaca
– actualmente la sociedad se llama ITURRI Poland
Sp. z o.o. (anteriormente Eurosoft Sp. z o.o.) – lo que
destaca mejor la pertenencia a la corporación internacional.
A pesar del cambio de nombre, en la empresa trabajan

Currently, there are already digital resources available
that collect such data. Since 1999, sixteen countries
have been conducting anthropometric analysis using
3D body scanners, including 6 in Europe, obtaining data
for 120,000 people. The availability of these data has
created an opportunity to use morphological information
in a wider range than the current 1D sizes. The ITURRI
Group participates in the development of a web portal
that allows it to take advantage of these data, optimising
the size tables, in order to achieve an optimal fit of clothing.
Among many other functions, the portal allows to:
 Create new size tables, optimally matched to the person
giving the country, gender and age range.
 Consider all the dimensions of the body in the design
process.
 Have a womenswear collection in 100% customised
to the shape of the female body.
 Create virtual mannequins (avatars) that allow you
to select an actual person to try on each of the
manufactured sizes.
 Improve the fit of special sizes. With the help of the
three dimensions, it is possible to create an avatar that
will provide other data, to create ergonomic and fully
personalised clothing.
EUROFIT sizes are a step towards satisfying the needs
of employees in relation to their personal protective
equipment. From this moment, all the clothes from the
new range of clothing will have an identification label,
indicating that clothing corresponds to the EUROFIT
ergonomic criteria.
Durante las últimas décadas las medidas del cuerpo
humano se han utilizado para mejorar la interacción
persona-producto. La antropometría, ciencia que estudia
estas medidas físicas de hombres y mujeres, ha sido
ampliamente utilizada para el diseño de componentes
en sectores como el de la automoción o el mueble
a través de medidas unidimensionales (1D). El avance
de las nuevas tecnologías ha hecho posible la creación
de escáneres tridimensionales (3D) de cuerpo que
permiten la recolección, el almacenaje y tratamiento
de los datos antropométricos.
Actualmente ya se disponen de fuentes digitales
que recogen estos datos. Desde 1999, 16 países han

In recent decades, human body measurement was used
to improve the person-product interaction. Anthropometry,
the science dealing with the physical dimensions of men
and women was often used in the design of components
in sectors such as the automobile or furniture industry,
using one-dimensional sizes (1D). Progress of new
technologies has enabled the creation of threedimensional body scanners (3D), which allows to collect,
store and process anthropometric data.

seleccionar personas reales para probar cada una
de las tallas fabricadas.
 Mejorar el ajuste de tallas especiales. Con tres medidas
es posible crear un avatar que proporcione el resto
de datos para crear un vestuario ergonómico y totalmente
personalizado.
El tallaje EUROFIT representa un paso más en satisfacer
la demanda de los trabajadores en relación a su equipo
de protección individual. En adelante, todas las prendas
de la nueva gama de vestuario llevarán una etiqueta
identificativa, indicando que la prenda va conforme
a los criterios ergonómicos de EUROFIT.

Despite this, research and subsequent activities related to
the launch, have resulted in a new watering and flushing
vehicle, for use by municipal services involved in cleaning
and gardening.

ITURRI’s knowledge in the field of fire-fighting vehicles
and the use of new materials and technologies are
the company’s guarantee of quality. The most innovative
feature is the introduction for the first time in these
vehicles of the Ecopolyfire® system both in the body
and the tank. The main benefits of this material include:
 Reduction of weight in comparison with watering
and flushing vehicles made of steel or polyester, which
increases the capacity of the water tank (with the same
load capacity of the chassis). This improves the efficiency
of cleaning companies.
 The material is completely recycled, which in turn
improves environmental protection.

to the behaviour of the Ecopolyfire® mechanical system
compared to other materials used before).
 Greater ease and speed of repair, causing that they are

These development works resulted in the prototype
manufactured in ITURRI’s factory. After passing qualitative
tests and technical approval, they asked URBASER, one
of the leaders in the municipal services sector, to test
the vehicle. After several weeks of technical analysis
and demanding field tests, URBASER’s conclusion was
very positive, what’s more, the company decided to trust
this new product and buy the first vehicle made.

Este desarrollo se ha materializado en un prototipo
fabricado en nuestras propias instalaciones. Una vez
superadas las pruebas de calidad y validación técnica,
se pidió a la empresa URBASER, una de las empresas
líderes en el sector de los servicios urbanos, que testara
el vehículo. Tras varias semanas de análisis técnicos
y exigentes pruebas de campo, la conclusión de URBASER
fue muy positiva, tanto es así, que decidió apostar por este
nuevo producto adquiriendo la primera unidad.

is on the automotive sector. This sector is slowly
coming out from the crisis. Renault expects
to end the year manufacturing 200,000 vehicles a year
and expects to manufacture 330,000 vehicles in 2015.

II Foro Internacional ITURRI de Petróleo y Gas
After the successful experience of the I ITURRI Oil&Gas
INTERNATIONAL FORUM in 2012, ITURRI decided to organize
its second edition on 29th-30th October 2014. The event
took place in Seville and gathered 100 international experts
from 10 different countries and it represented an excellent
opportunity to open discussions, exchange and network.
The event counted with worldwide renowned experts
as speakers and was very focused on industry common
problems and solutions. There were several discussions on
how to assess risk and fire response on major case scenarios
and its implications on insurance costs. Attendees had the
chance to learn from experiences such as the Buncefield
fire in 2005, from which we can certainly extract important
lessons on logistics, pre-fire planning, the need of a “plan
B”, etc. This unveiled the importance of alternative mobile
firefighting systems, among others. There were as well
discussions on topics such as fluorine-free foams or the
possibility to share fire-fighting and rescue resources
with neighboring site. Finally, everyone had the chance
to discover a system permitting early hydrocarbon leak
detection both onshore and offshore and also to learn about
know-how implemented on a new software able to estimate
VOC leaks on storage tanks.
Attendees very much appreciated the presentations, the
high-level of the speakers and the discussions held during
the event. With this second edition, the ITURRI Oil&Gas
INTERNATIONAL FORUM has become a reference event in
the industry. The third edition of the Forum has strongly
been requested and therefore already planned for 2016.

El evento atrajo a expertos importantes y reconocidos
en todo el mundo como conferenciantes y se centró
en particular en los problemas comunes del sector
y en sus potenciales soluciones. Hubo varias discusiones
sobre las formas de valoración del riesgo y reacción ante
un incendio en el contexto de los principales escenarios
y su impacto sobre los costes del seguro. Los participantes
tuvieron la oportunidad de aprender de experiencias
tales como el incendio en Buncefield en 2005 del cual,
con certeza, se obtuvieron conclusiones importantes
sobre logística, planificación antes de un incendio,
necesidad de un “plan B”, etc. Esta parte llamó la atención,
entre otros aspectos, la importancia de los sistemas
alternativos de extinción móviles. También tuvieron lugar
discusiones sobre temas como la espuma libre de flúor
o la posibilidad de compartir recursos para la lucha contra
incendios y salvamento con plantas vecinas. Al final, todo
el mundo tuvo la oportunidad de conocer un sistema que
permite la detección precoz de fugas de hidrocarburos,
tanto en instalaciones terrestres como marítimas,
y también conocer la tecnología implementada en el nuevo
software, que es capaz de detectar fugas de compuestos
orgánicos volátiles en depósitos de almacenamiento.
Los participantes evaluaron muy positivamente
las presentaciones, el alto nivel de los conferenciantes
y de las discusiones llevadas a cabo durante el evento.
Gracias a su segunda edición, el FORO INTERNACIONAL
ITURRI DE PETRÓLEO Y GAS se ha convertido en uno de
los más prestigiosos encuentros del sector. Decididamente
se exigió una nueva tercera edición del foro, que ha sido
planificado para el año 2016.

Beer is the oldest alcoholic beverage, made for at least six
thousand years. ŻywiecGroup, whose biggest shareholder
is Heineken, consists of five breweries in Poland: in Żywiec,
Elbląg, Warka, Leżajsk and Cieszyn. In each of these places,
the tradition of brewing good beer is being nurtured
and developed. The same is true in terms of safety. Just
how important safety is in the management process
of the Żywiec Group can be seen in the fact that in recent
years the National Labour Inspectorate has awarded
the breweries in Elbląg and in Żywiec in the national
competition “Employer – Organiser of Safe Work”.
The ITURRI Group and Wentykal have become partners
of the Żywiec Group in the selection and installation
of safety systems to protect against falls from a height.
In the past year, and this year ITURRI have completed
projects in key areas of the brewery in Żywiec, through
the installation of the Uniline systems made by Capital
Safety. Currently the project is being implemented in the
brewery in Elbląg. They also supply appropriate personal
protective equipment to protect against falls from
a height - from our “Top Safety” brand. ITURRI also offer
comprehensive solutions: training, periodic inspections
and assistance in developing a unified system in further
areas, in all locations.
Through the joint efforts of all those involved in the
Żywiec’s employees projects, the end users of the systems
and the equipment will be able to perform the work easily
and safely, and after work they will be able to enjoy a beer

on October 8, the 5th Meeting on Safety at EDP
Distribuição took place under the motto “Safety
in the Campaigns”. The meeting was intended to show
the challenges related to prevention and safety, related
to interventions in electricity distribution networks
in Continental Portugal. These interventions
are an exceptional mobilisation of human and
material resources.

A new ITURRI fire truck for Snecma Villaroche
Un nuevo vehículo contra incendios para ITURRI Snecma Villaroche
Snecma’s Villaroche plant, 50 kilometers southeast
of Paris, is the leading industrial employer in the Seineet-Marne department. Created in 1947 for the ground
and flight testing of commercial and military engines, the
Villaroche plant spans some 86 hectares in the middle
of the Brie plains. The Villaroche site now houses
Snecma’s Commercial Engine division and Military Engine
division, as well as the engineering department and Sales
& Marketing department. Villaroche spans many different
disciplines, with more than 2,500 engineers, technicians
and management staff involved in all areas of advanced
research, design and development. Other staff takes
charge of fitting, final assembly and testing of the engine
subassemblies, prior to customer delivery. The plant has
12 engine test rigs, including one for the GE90, which
is one of the two largest closed test cells in Europe,
and about 40 partial test facilities.
Snecma Villaroche has choosen the urban truck – FPTL
once again as their new acquisition. On the 1st of July
2014, ITURRI delivered his fourth vehicle after a VPI,
a 6x6 ATV for Evry-Corbeil plant and CCRM on Vernon
plant.

La planta Snecma Villaroche, situada a 50 km al sureste
de París, es el principal empleador en el sector industrial
en el departamento de Seine-et-Marne. Esta planta,
fundada en 1947 para realizar los ensayos en tierra y aire
de motores comerciales y militares, ocupa aproximadamente 86 hectáreas en el centro de la llanura de Brie.
En Villaroche están localizados actualmente el Departamento de Motores Comerciales y el Departamento de
Motores Militares Snecma, así como el departamento
técnico y el Departamento de Ventas y Marketing.
La actividad llevada aquí a cabo incluye muchos
ámbitos y en cada etapa de ensayos avanzados,
de diseño y desarrollo participan más de 2500 ingenieros,
técnicos y directivos. El resto de empleados se dedican
a la instalación, al montaje final y a las pruebas de
los subconjuntos de los motores antes de la entrega
al cliente. La planta dispone de 12 puestos de ensayos
de motores, entre otros uno dedicado a GE90, que
es una de las dos cámaras de ensayos cerradas más grandes
en Europa, y unos 40 equipos de ensayos parciales.
Para esta compra Snecma Villaroche ha elegido nuevamente
el vehículo urbano - FPTL. El día 1 de julio de 2014 ITURRI
entregó el cuarto vehículo después de VPI, 6x6 ATV para
la planta de Evry-Corbeil y CCRM para la planta de Vernon.

SDIS 84 organized the traditional Congrés

SDIS 84 organizó el tradicional Congres National de Sapeurs-Pompiers en Aviñón
The 2014 edition of the French National Fire Fighter
Exhibition was organized this year by SDIS 84 and took
place in Avignon (South of France) from 1st to 4th October.
The SDIS President Mr. Lambertin, supported by Colonel
Noisette were excellent hosts and made the exhibition
a big success of participation and organization.
ITURRI Group chose to exhibit 5 vehicles in a 300m2
outdoor stand:
 1 Urban Fire and Rescue vehicles (FPTSR) from SDIS 42,
 1 Urban Rapid Intervention Vehicle (VPI) from SDIS 03,
 2 Lynx (CCFL) from SDIS 07 and
 1 Lynx (CCRL) from SDIS 41.
Also fire-fighting garments, gloves, helmets and boots.
ITURRI stand welcomed visitors from most of the SDIS
(Fire and Rescue Service for each Department in France).
The most popular vehicles of the stand were the LYNX
and the Urban RIV vehicles:
 The LYNX, on a 4x4 Bremach chassis, is bodybuilt
in EcoPolyFire© material and entirely designed by ITURRI
for specific use in urban and rural environments. Optimum
off-road behavior combined with a maximum rescue
and fire extinguishing capacity are required. To enhance
the 4 crew safety, the cab has an anti-roll reinforced
structure.
 The Rapid Intervention Vehicle (VPI) is built on a 4x2
Iveco Daily chassis, with a 6-occupant double cab. Fully
equipped with complete rescue tools in extractable
lockers and a water capacity of 1.300 liters, being the most
compact urban intervention vehicle in the market.
Los días 1-4 de octubre SDIS 84 organizó la edición Nº 121
de este año de la Exposición Nacional Francesa de Equipos
Contra Incendios en Aviñón (Francia). El presidente de
SDIS, el señor Lambertin, junto con el coronel Noisette
se mostraron como anfitriones perfectos y la exposición
tuvo un gran éxito desde el punto de vista del número
de participantes y de la organización.
El Grupo ITURRI presentó en su stand exterior de 300m2
de superficie 5 vehículos:
 1 vehículo urbano contra incendios y de emergencia
(FPTSR) de SDIS 42,
 1 vehículo urbano de intervención rápida (VPI) de SDIS 03,

Se presentó también ropa contra incendios, guantes,
cascos y calzado.
El stand de ITURRI fue visitado numerosos SDIS (servicios
de bomberos y emergencia franceses). Los vehículos
más populares en el stand fueron los automóviles tipo
Lynx y los vehículos urbanos RIV:
 LYNX, con un chasis de Bremach 4x4 y una carrocería
de material EcoPolyFire©, fue diseñado en su totalidad
por ITURRI para su uso particular en entornos urbanos
y rurales. Esto requiere un comportamiento óptimo
en condiciones difíciles en terreno y la mayor capacidad
para prestar ayuda y extinguir incendios. Para aumentar
la seguridad de las 4 personas de la tripulación, la cabina
está equipada con una estructura antivuelco.

Emergency solutions against Ebola
Soluciones de emergencia frente al Ébola
The global crisis unleashed by the Ebola virus caused a chain
reaction of many authorities, which focused on combating
and eradicating its deadly consequences. Military, state
security authorities, emergency services, health care and
hospital professionals and security specialists are working
under the pressure of time to find a solution.
Since the announcement of a health alert in Spain,
ITURRI has been doing everything possible to help
in the emergency. Experience in similar situations resulted
in that the proposal submitted to different sectors affected
by the threat was accepted by the hospitals’ Prevention
Services. “Safety is always important, but in such times
it is critical and we cannot fail” said Jaime Fábregas, Director
of the ITURRI Group Health Unit.
According to the recommendations of the WHO (World
Health Organization) and the Ministry of Health, “we
have created a presentation containing an analysis of the
situation and the risk of infection and in consequence, we
offered a solution”. Equipment has been defined depending
on the exposure to the virus, where in the levels of
protection have been additionally increased as a means
of prevention, thereby preventing any risk of possible
contamination. The proposed personal protection
equipment offers greater peace of mind to the specialists
who have direct and indirect contact with the virus.
Personal protection equipment defined by the health
authorities. The EVD (Ebola Virus Disease) Crisis
The information below is directly based on the
recommendations related to personal protection
equipment defined by the competent health authorities:
Ministry of Health (MSSSI), European Centre for Disease
Prevention and Control (ECDC) and World Health
Organization (WHO) for all those who have access
to designated isolation areas or have been in contact
with a patient or their body fluids.

La crisis mundial desencadenada por el virus del ébola
ha supuesto una reacción en cadena desde distintos
estamentos para luchar y erradicar sus consecuencias
mortales. El Ejército, cuerpos de seguridad del estado,
servicios de emergencia, trabajadores de los sistemas
de salud y hospitales y profesionales de la seguridad
trabajan contrareloj para buscar soluciones.
Desde la activación de alerta sanitaria en España, ITURRI
se ha volcado para ayudar ante la emergencia. La experiencia
en situaciones similares, hizo que la propuesta presentada
a los distintos sectores afectados fuera aceptada por
los Servicios de Prevención de los hospitales. “La protección
es siempre importante pero en estos momentos es crucial
y no podemos fallar” fue el planteamiento de Jaime
Fábregas, Responsable de la Unidad de Sanidad del Grupo
ITURRI.
En consonancia con las recomendaciones de la OMS
(Organización Mundial de la Salud) y del Ministerio
de Sanidad, “elaboramos una presentación con el análisis
de la situación y de los riesgos de contagio y en consecuencia
ofrecimos soluciones”. Una serie de equipos definidos
en función de la exposición al virus que además, como
medida de prevención, han visto elevados los niveles
de protección, cubriendo así todos los riesgos frente
a posibles contagios. Los EPI (Equipos de Protección
Individual) planteados ofrecen más tranquilidad
a los profesionales de contacto directo e indirecto con dicho
virus.
EPI definidos por las autoridades sanitarias. Crisis EVE
(Enfermedad Virus Ebola)
La información que se da a continuación está estrictamente
basada en las recomendaciones relativas a EPI definidos
por las autoridades sanitarias competentes: Ministerio
de Sanidad, Servicios Sociales e Igualdad (MSSI), Centro
Europeo para la Prevención y Control de Enfermedades
(ECDC, en inglés) y la Organización Mundial de la Salud
(OMS)
para todas aquellas personas que accedan

of procedures, in order to take the necessary measures
to control and prevent infection by the Ebola Virus Disease
(EVD).
In addition, the use of personal protective equipment should
always be carried out in accordance with the contents
of the Royal Decree RD 773/1997, with an emphasis
on training on its proper use, which employees should
undergo.
Protection of employees potentially exposed to the risk
of infection with this virus must be carried out in accordance
with the Royal Decree 664/1997, regarding the protection
of employees from the risks related to exposure to biological
agents at work.
According to the WHO’s guide for the prevention and
control while caring for patients with EVD in health facilities,
staff should be provided with the following personal
protective equipment:
Gloves
The WHO states that disposable, non-sterile gloves should
be used for performing tests, whereas in the case of contact
with patient fluids, double gloves should be used. Gloves
should be changed when they are heavily
soiled with blood or body fluids. In addition,
after their removal, hands should be washed
thoroughly.
EN 374-1:2003 is a harmonised standard
that specifies the requirements for protective
gloves against microorganisms. On the other
hand, disposable surgical gloves have extra
strength and durability. Double gloves (the use
of two pairs of gloves) increase the protection
offered.
Protective clothing
The European standards include a specific
standard for protection against infectious
agents, EN 14126:2003, specifying the
requirements and test methods for
protective clothing against infective agents.
According to this standard, clothes should
pass a series of special tests, common to all

Además, el uso de los EPI debe realizarse siempre según
lo dispuesto en el RD 773/1997, haciendo hincapié
en la formación que deben recibir los trabajadores acerca
de su correcta utilización.
La protección de los trabajadores potencialmente expuestos
a un riesgo de contagio por este virus debe hacerse según
lo dispuesto en el Real Decreto 664/1997, sobre la protección
de los trabajadores contra los riesgos relacionados
con la exposición a agentes biológicos durante el trabajo.
Según el documento Guía de la OMS para la prevención
y control en el cuidado de pacientes con EVE en centros
sanitarios, el personal deberá ir equipado con los siguientes
EPI:
Guantes
La OMS indica que deberán usarse guantes de examen
no estériles de un solo uso, debiendo usarse
dos guantes cuando se entre en contacto
con los fluidos del paciente. Se deberán
cambiar los guantes cuando éstos estén
severamente contaminados con sangre
o fluidos corporales. Además se llevará
a cabo una limpieza exhaustiva de manos tras
su retirada.
La norma armonizada que define los
requisitos para los guantes de protección
contra microorganismos es la EN 374-1:2003.
Por su parte, los guantes quirúrgicos de un
solo uso, presentan una solidez y resistencia
adicionales. El doble enguantado (uso de dos
pares de guantes) incrementaría la protección
del conjunto.
Ropa de protección
La normativa europea recoge una norma
específica para la protección contra agentes
biológicos, la EN 14126:2003 sobre requisitos

be passed by protective clothing against liquid
chemical substances.
Standard EN 14126:2003 also requires
the compliance with certain requirements
related to tests for the protection against chemical risks, as the clothing decontamination
processes could penetrate through clothing,
which is why in addition to decontamination
clothes are subjected to tests according to
EN 14605. The standard defines the clothes that offer protection against liquids under pressure as Type 3 clothing
and clothes that offer a protective barrier against fluids
in spray or aerosol as Type 4 clothing. It also describes
the clothes/accessories providing partial protection of the
body, Type PB [3] and PB [4].
At this point it should be noted that such accessories
as high overshoes, hoods, aprons, smocks and shoulder
straps are considered as personal protection equipment
offering partial protection of the various parts of the
body, while overshoes, which reach only to the ankle
are accessories that should be placed on top of personal
protection equipment and which in exceptional
circumstances should protect personal protection
equipment against contamination, dirt or unwanted
aggressive action.
Respiratory tract protection
Staff which is in contact with patients or their fluids
with a threat of aerosols should wear filtering masks FFP2,
in accordance with EN 149:2001+A1:2009. The use
of facial protection elements such as respirators or full
masks appropriately certified according to EN 140:1998

tienen como fin evaluar la resistencia del EPI
a la vez que determinan el nivel de protección
del traje, clasificándolo en diversas clases
de resistencia al traspaso de agentes
biológicos. Estos ensayos específicos son
adicionales y distintos a los ensayos que
deben superar los trajes de protección contra
sustancias químicas líquidas.
La EN 14126:2003 también exige ciertos
requisitos de ensayo en lo relativo
a la protección contra el riesgo químico,
ya que los procesos de descontaminación de esta ropa
podrían atravesar el traje, por lo que además, estos trajes
de descontaminación se someten a los ensayos de la norma
EN 14605. La norma denomina a los trajes Tipo 3 a aquellos
que ofrecen protección frente salpicaduras presurizadas,
y trajes tipo 4 a aquellos que ofrecen una barrera frente
a salpicaduras en spray o aerosol. También incluye
denominaciones para las prendas/ accesorios que aportan
protección parcial a diferentes partes del cuerpo, Tipos
PB [3] y PB [4].
En este punto es preciso señalar que los accesorios como
cubrebotas de media caña, capuchas, delantales, batas
y manguitos, son considerados EPI que ofrecen protección
parcial a diversas partes del cuerpo, mientras que los
cubrecalzados que sólo llegan hasta el tobillo son accesorios
destinados a ser colocados sobre el EPI y que protegerán
en situaciones específicas al EPI de contaminación,
suciedad o agresiones no deseadas.
Protección respiratoria
El personal que entre en contacto con el paciente o sus
fluidos con riesgos de aerosoles debe utilizar mascarillas
filtrantes FFP2 según la norma EN 149:2001+A1:2009.

and EN 136:1998 requires proper decontamination after
use. Masks should be used together with dust filters P2
(or P3, depending on the level of risk, defined as a result
of the relevant assessment), certified according to
EN 143:2000 and the amendment EN 143:2000/A1:2006.
Full masks should provide the user with additional eye
protection.

Staff should have a face cover or goggles with a mask shaped
to protect against splashes of infected fluids. Both types
of protection should at least have the application area no.

aplicable a estos protectores es la EN 166:2001.
Calzado
La OMS establece que se deberá usar calzado cerrado
y resistente a la perforación y penetración de fluidos. Pese
a que no existe ningún tipo de norma específica de calzado
frente a agentes biológicos, el calzado según EN 138323:2006 debe superar una serie de ensayos destinados
a evaluar su resistencia a la penetración y degradación por
sustancias químicas líquidas. Además este calzado puede
incorporar un requisito añadido que le hace resistente
a la penetración de objetos punzantes a través de la suela.

operation uniforms.
The selected model of the operation uniform is again
the successful “clean air” type set.

El Hospital Plató con una plantilla
de casi 500 personas entre
facultativos, personal sanitario
y administrativo ha confiado
al Grupo ITURRI la gestión de la
uniformidad de sus empleados.
Se trata de un hospital de
referencia en el sector sanitario
de la ciudad de Barcelona ya que
proporciona asistencia tanto
a la sanidad pública como
mutuas y pacientes privados.
En septiembre se puso en
marcha el servicio de renting
de vestuario de la uniformidad
blanca de los facultativos
y personal sanitario, así como
de la indumentaria de quirófano
para los próximos 5 años.
Este servicio permite al personal
de Hospital disponer de uniformidad con su tarjeta RFID
los 365 días del año durante las 24 horas del día.
Se han instalado en total 6 máquinas de dispensación
de uniformidad: 4 máquinas para la uniformidad blanca
y 2 máquinas para la dispensación de uniformidad
de quirófano.
El modelo elegido para la uniformidad de quirófano ha sido
una vez más el exitoso pijama sanitario de aire limpio.

In September, the International Trade Fair for Safety
and Security took place in the city of Sao Paulo (Brazil).
It is one of the most important events in Latin America,
a benchmark for companies in the sector.
El pasado mes de septiembre se celebró en la ciudad
de Sao Paulo (Brasil) la Feira Internacional de Segurança
e Proteçao. Uno de los eventos más importantes
de Latinoamérica y referente para las empresas del sector.
During the three days of the Fair, the ITURRI Group had
more than 100 visits and presented its latest innovations
in the field of technical clothing, as well as solutions
for the Brazilian market in terms of global agreements.
Companies shown great interest in the new internal
management practices related to cost saving (direct
and indirect), which is a new formula in the search
for efficiency.
Durante los 3 días que duró la feria el Grupo ITURRI
recibió más de 100 visitas y presentó sus últimas
novedades en vestuario técnico así como sus soluciones
para el mercado de Brasil en materia de contratos
globales. Las empresas demostraron gran interés

EDURA
EDURA is the annual Polish Fire Fighting Exhibition which
is held in Kielce (12-14 June), a small city north of Krakow
and Katowice.
EDURA es una Exposición Internacional de Servicios
de Salvamento y Técnicas contra Incendios organizada
todos los años en Polonia los días 12-14 de junio en Kielce.
Kielce has been always a city very related to fire fighting.
The national Fire Fighting School has been located in this
city for many years, before moving to Krakow.
Kielce siempre ha sido una ciudad muy importante para
el sector de los bomberos. Durante muchos años, antes
mudarse a Cracovia, aquí tenía su sede la escuela nacional
de bomberos.
Visitors are mostly from the civil and military emergency
services, as well as students to become fire fighters.
This year the number of exhibitors has not been very high.
Around 200 companies have occupied the 2 halls opened
for this event.
For ITURRI this was the first contact with this forum,
where they attended with a small booth. Edura is a strategic
meeting point which gathers all the fire-fighting business
in Poland, mainly focused to the petrochemical industry.
ITURRI presented 2 important nationwide exclusive
solutions: Mobile water pumping solutions (HYTRANS)
and new fire-fighting intervention suits for Oil&Gas
firemen.

Este año el número de expositores no fue muy elevado.
Aproximadamente 200 empresas, que ocuparon 2 salas
de exposición.
Para ITURRI, que presentó un stand pequeño, fue
el primer contacto con este tipo de foros. Edura
es un evento de importancia estratégica que reúne
a todas las organizaciones que trabajan en el sector
de la lucha contra incendios en Polonia, y que está enfocado
principalmente en la industria petroquímica.

towards Safety in Grupa Azoty – Zaklady Azotowe Tarnow
is Safety Day event taken place 19th September 2014.
The HSE Management of ZAT asked their partners
for help to lead the undertaking in the most efficient of ways
and promote Safety Culture by innovation and userfriendly approach.
ITURRI Group made it available at hand to touch newest
solution in PPEs and training firefighting simulators.
They shared their learnings and experience among
the others finding answers to day to day challenges
in Safety. They also checked and developed the knowledge
of different department representatives in pragmatic chase
for wining prize in Safety Gymkhana. One of the check-in
stations was organized with the help of ITURRI Group using
the innovative digital fire extinguishing training system
to properly select hand-protection in day to day
workstations activities.
It is very important to promote Safety Behaviors and
build Safety Culture. Now, ZAT and ITURRI Group together
will create the scenario for the next year edition.

Uno de los métodos de realización del enfoque estratégico
en la seguridad en el Grupo Azoty - Zakłady Azotowe
Tarnów fue la organización el día 19 de septiembre
del 2014 del Día de la Seguridad. Los responsables
de la Seguridad e Higiene en el Trabajo en las instalaciones
pidieron a sus socios ayuda para organizar este evento
de la manera más eficaz y promover la cultura de seguridad
mediante un enfoque innovador y amigable.
El Grupo ITURRI puso a disposición las últimas soluciones
en las áreas de equipos de extinción de incendios
y simuladores contra incendios. Los representantes
de la empresa compartieron sus conocimientos y su
experiencia buscando, entre otras, respuestas a los retos
diarios en el ámbito de la seguridad. También verificaron
y desarrollaron los conocimientos de los representantes
de los distintos departamentos durante una carrera
pragmática para conseguir el premio Gymkhana en el
ámbito de la seguridad. Una de las pruebas fue
organizada en colaboración con el grupo ITURRI. Para este
fin se utilizó un sistema digital de formación de extinción
de incendios para seleccionar correctamente la protección
de las manos en el trabajo diario en los puestos de trabajo.
La promoción de un comportamiento seguro y la creación
de una cultura de seguridad tienen una importancia
fundamental. Actualmente ZAT y el Grupo ITURRI están
colaborando en los contenidos guiones para la siguiente
edición de este evento.

Climbing Mount Gorbea
Subida al Monte Gorbea
Mount Gorbea (in Euskera: Gorbeia) is the highest
peak of the mountain range of the same name, located
in the Basque Mountains, on the border of the Álava and
Bizkaia provinces in the Basque Country (Spain). It is 1,482
metres high and since 1899 its peak has been crowned
with a metal cross. Current it is 17.23 metres high.
It is a traditional benchmark of the Basque mountains
and the heart of the Gorbeia Nature Park.
El monte Gorbea (en euskera: Gorbeia) es la cumbre más
alta del macizo montañoso del mismo nombre, situado
en los Montes Vascos, a caballo entre las provincias
de Álava y Bizkaia en el País Vasco (España). Tiene una altura
de 1.482 metros y su cima está coronada desde 1899 por
una cruz metálica. La actual es de 17,23 metros de altura.
Es un tradicional punto de referencia del montañismo
vasco y corazón del Parque Natural del Gorbeia.
From Pagomakurre (833 m), we took the wide trail to the
Arraba fields, which we reached through the Arrabakoate
pass (1,073 m). It intersects these fields and passes next to
the Elorria mountain shelter. We headed to the south west,
passing under the Gatzarrieta rock and entering the Egiriñao
valley through the wide Aldapa pass. We arrived to the shrine
of Our Lady of the Snows and the neighbouring mountain
shelter. We climbed up between the rocks to the Aldaminoste
hill (1,321 m), where on the left, very close, we saw
the Aldamin peak (1,378 m), and on the right side the Gorbea
hill with a cross on top. We climbed the slope of the mountain
and reach the peak. It is the route usually chosen by Vizcaya
residents.
Desde Pagomakurre (883 m) se toma una amplia pista que
lleva a las campas de Arraba a las que entramos por el paso
llamado Arrabakoate (1.073 m). Se cruzan dichas campas
y se pasa al lado del refugio de Elorria. Seguimos dirección
suroeste pasando bajo la peña de Gatzarrieta y pasando
a la cuenca de Egiriñao por el amplio paso de Aldape
llegando a la ermita de la Virgen de las Nieves y a su refugio
vecino. Subimos entre algunas piedras hasta el collado
de Aldaminoste (1.321 m) donde a la izquierda nos queda,
muy cerca la cumbre del Aldamin (1.378 m) y a la derecha
se alza la loma del Gorbea con su cruz en lo alto. Se sube
la pendiente ladera y se llega a la cima. Este es el camino más
utilizado por los vizcaínos.
The climb, which took place on Saturday morning, October
25, was attended by the following “climbers”: Ignacio Muñoz
(Bilbao Port Authority), Iñaki Uriarte, Ibai Uriarte, Gerardo
Mancisidor and Angel, who were accompanied by the faithful
dog Bimbo. The two hours of climbing and 5880 metres hiked
were celebrated with hugs and wine.
Realizaron esta ascensión la mañana del sábado 25 de octubre
los siguientes “escaladores “: Ignacio Muñoz (Autoridad
Portuaria de Bilbao), Iñaki Uriarte, Ibai Uriarte, Gerardo
Mancisidor y Angel acompañados por el fiel perrito Bimbo.
2 horas de subida y 5880 metros recorridos fueron celebrados
entre abrazos y buenos tragos de vino.

Eid al-Adha. What is that?
¿Qué es Id al-Adha?
Id al-Adha o la “Fiesta del Sacrificio“ es una de las dos
mayores festividades del Islam. La fiesta celebrada todos
los años indica el final de la peregrinación a la Meca
y coincide con el día 10 “Dhul-Hiyya”, el último mes
del calendario musulmán (lunar).
Eid al-Adha or the “Feast of Sacrifice” is one of the two
most important holidays in Islam. Each year it marks
the end of pilgrimage to Mecca. It falls on the 10th
of the month of “Dhu al-Hijja”, the last of the Muslim
calendar (lunar calendar).
It commemorates Abraham’s submission to God,
symbolized by the episode where he agreed to sacrifice
his son Ishmael, where at the last moment and when
he was ready to execute the offering, God sent him a sheep
through the angel Gabriel to replace his child. In memory
of that total submission to God by Abraham, Muslim
families sacrifice a ram and sometimes, if not available,
they slaughter other animals such as cows or goats.
Muslim families usually split the meat into three parts:
one for themselves to enjoy, the second is offered to their
neighbors, and the third goes to the poor who can’t afford
a sacrifice. Thus, all social classes enjoy the feast, even
those who often cannot afford to buy meat throughout the
year.
On October 2 nd ITURRI offered some sheeps to its
employees at the garments´ factory in Morocco to make
the festivity true.

La fiesta conmemora la obediencia de Abrahán frente
a Dios. Abrahán aceptó sacrificar para Dios a su hijo
Ismael, pero en el último momento Dios a través del ángel
Gabriel le envió una oveja para que la sacrificara en lugar
de su hijo. En conmemoración del acto de Abrahán,
las familias musulmanas sacrifican un carnero o si no
disponen de un carnero, se mata algún otro animal,
como una vaca o una cabra.
Es habitual dividir la carne en tres partes: una se consume
durante la propia fiesta, la segunda está destinada
a los vecinos, y la tercera llega a los pobres que
no se pueden permitir el sacrificio. Así personas de todas
las clases sociales pueden disfrutar de esta fiesta, incluso
las que muchas veces no se pueden permitir comprar
carne durante todo el año.
El 2 de octubre ITURRI entregó varios corderos a los
empleados de la fábrica de vestuario en Marruecos
para honrar esta tradición.
