Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade
LIST OF STANDARDIZING BODIES THAT HAVE ACCEPTED THE CODE
OF GOOD PRACTICE FOR THE PREPARATION, ADOPTION AND
APPLICATION OF STANDARDS
SINCE 1 JANUARY 1995
NOTE BY THE SECRETARIAT1
Revision
The Ministerial Decision on the Review of the ISO/IEC Information Centre Publication adopted in
Marrakesh on 15 April 1994 states that the Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade shall:
"at least once a year review the publication provided by the ISO/IEC Information
Centre on information received according to the Code of Good Practice for the
Preparation, Adoption and Application of Standards in Annex 3 of the Agreement, for
the purpose of affording Members opportunity of discussing any matters relating to
the operation of that Code.
In order to facilitate this discussion, the Secretariat shall provide a list by Member of
all standardizing bodies that have accepted the Code, as well as a list of those
standardizing bodies that have accepted or withdrawn from the Code since the
previous review."
The following table contains a list of all standardizing bodies that have accepted the Code of Good
Practice since the entry into force of the WTO. The list is organized by Member (alphabetic order),
name and type of standardizing body, and date of acceptance of the Code of Good Practice. Since
1 January 1995, standardizing bodies from 128 Members2 have accepted the Code of Good
Practice, among them, central governmental standardizing bodies, local governmental
standardizing bodies and non-governmental standardizing bodies.
This document has been prepared under the Secretariat's own responsibility and is without prejudice
to the positions of Members or to their rights and obligations under the WTO.
2
In addition, standardizing bodies from four WTO observers (Algeria (2003), Belarus (2001), Bosnia
and Herzegovina (1997), Serbia (2005) have notified their acceptance of the Code of Good Practice to the
ISO/IEC Information Centre.
